Sacred Contracts IV: Bridging

1.
It was no pretense, the stretching
into the reservoir's muddy mouth
where I fashioned brick into steps:

A desert dweller, solitude sitter
breathing dry particles of earth,
vestige love, recycled words.

2.
Micro-climates part sunflowers,
Elevation becoming seraphic;
His hand concrete around mine:

Two enervated refugees bridging
toward an unforeseen denouement.
