die Kunst des Vergessens~The Art Of Forgetting
sweep it all away
till there is nothing left
just dust motes
Schmerzen schmackhaft
Pain Palatable
feeling forlorn
tuck it away where
it can't be seen
in Ihrem Gefolge verwüstet
Devastated in their wake
I pick myself up
carry on and write
my own stories in the sand
Wenn ich nicht also gebrochen fühlen
When i'm not so broken
I will be able to express
myself with self confidence
live my own adventures
Es ist nichts für mich
It's not for me
so I stand tall
walk away with my crushed bones
carry on singing a new song

so I stand tall
walk away with my crushed bones
carrying on singing a new song
"If You are still Breathing, (no matter
how hard that might be), You are
still able to Fight; so Fight, with
all the breath You have left."
A Truly Strong and profound write Brenda.

Oh, you went and changed your profile picture! I was like "Wow, who is this person who keeps replying to others' comments? :P
Interesting, when I took a peek at Google translate, "Schmerzen schmackhaft" translated to "pain tasty" which gives a whole different idea to me than "pain palatable" ... Palatable pain would be like pain that is acceptable, tolerated...whereas tasty pain...would be a different idea all together! But I feel like palatable pain goes much better with this piece, so good choice. And, yet, tucking it away...gave me the image of a hamster stuffing their cheeks. Perhaps it can't be "seen" as it was, but it's still seen through puffy cheeks, hidden there to swallow down later. Very thought-evoking stanza there.
And...writing stories in the sand seems to bring to mind the futility and inevitability that "this too shall pass," which can be a heartening phrase in some aspects, but when you apply it to good things, a bit sad, too. A concise commentary on how nothing is permanent and everything will pass eventually. The good, the bad, the ugly. It's all temporary.
The last stanza is so powerful...good for you for having the "strength to get up and try again, one day at a time."
Beautiful piece!

I can relate to this one very deeply. We don't usually get to forget but we do learn.
you have a lovely soul and this write feels broken and healed at the same time, which again, is something I empathise with
Always a pleasure to read your work, Crim
much love xx

Interesting that you should choose German as a language to weave into your poem. Aesthetically speaking, German has never been a particularly romantic language. It's harsh and brash and sounds angry even when it doesn't mean to.
This aside, it sounds like this write is personal, and it obviously means something to you as the writer. The last stanza summarises the whole thing beautifully.
I think there's more than meets the eye on this write. Thank you for
sharing.

I guess I felt I was treated a little harsh maybe that's why on an unconscious level I chose German..
then expressing the pain I was feeling..

I can almost imagine you singing this like Marlene Dietrich in a Berlin cabaret. Just my visual. It might take practice, but forgetting is an art. It's initially an act of will or a struggle with the more painful memories. Then it gets easier, and you can wear your experience with elegance, and maybe write about it. Just as you've done here. Incredible job, Crim. This one's a keeper.

I still *feel the ink flowing from those bones CrimCrim..
the mixing of german resounds in this mutsey german/irish heart.. a gorgeous melancholia by epitaph almost.
don't swack me when I remind you of the strength you pen beside the somber here.. [or jus a lil swack] ;)
this settled me[personal owies] as much as it brought shinies to eye, loves you lady! *let healing commence ;)

As your avatar so aptly communicates, it seems counter intuitive to those looking in from the outside, but the position of strength is in the forgiving, in the giving into. It is then completely in the hearts and minds and souls of those who seek that power over us to prove to the universe that they have some standing. Forgiveness is a submission to the highest power, beyond the reach of faith or justice, and it lives in a state of grace. Well penned, Crim.

Brenda, schöne frau, das ist wunderbar!!! & written (in part) in one of my favourite languages ^.^ sehr talentiert ...
"Schmerzen schmackhaft
in Ihrem Gefolge verwüstet
Wenn ich nicht also gebrochen fühlen
Es ist nichts für mich"
... could actually stand alone & i'd love it too. it's a hard sounding language, bitter in the way it presses your tongue when spoken aloud but for all that, it fits here very well
loved!
will catch up with the rest of your work/words when i'm home & on my feet but this caught my eye
xoxox
with much love

German is a bold language, the language of warriors. as I see it, you didn't write it for romance, Crim, but from the warrior's perspective. beeindruckend!...
