Stardom
I will shed my body
This burden
Once a source of pleasure
Soon crumbling with age and disease
Once divested, I may become light
At long last achieve stardom
A glitter in God's eye.

Shedding mortal boundaries with arms outstretched, reaching for celestial release.

is this not what we all long for? in our own way. to become light and beauty in the eyes of our creator (whoever that may be).
simply beautiful.

And do you not wonder that when you shed your crumbling body...that there is never going to be anything more than a mouthful of dirt? I hope for the sake of all of us we are, at our smallest moment, furious shards of light.

That's very well said, Virginia, but I remain hopeful that some form of light can be attained post mortem. The furious shards of light you describe I take to be passion, which you obviously have in abundance. If the celestial light I pray can be achieved is just a figment, it really won't matter much. I wouldn't be choking on a mouthful of dirt. I wouldn't be aware of anything at all. Just oblivion. I still try to make the most of whatever life I have left. I'm by no means in constant preparation for death, through prayer or otherwise. I try to enjoy life, live it ethically and with respect for others, but I consider the idea that God may be my witness. I had a spiritual experience that was compelling enough for me to believe this, although my faith is often very shaky, and by no means complete. Taking that leap is still a frightening prospect.
So I try to snuff that fear and, again, enjoy life, and not hurt anyone in the process.
Part of that enjoyment is writing on this site, and comparing ideas with the people here. It's
fun and instructive. I find some of the poets here brilliant, and I'd say you're one of them. Thanks for the stimulating commentary.

Well said, Crow. Your poems make me think, and that's what I am here for. I love your thoughts! I love that you do not believe we end as mounds of dirt! I love that your thoughts derive from an intelligent and forceful soul. Thank you for your commentary and brilliance. Muah!

Be forever. You already have God's attention. Someday Divine will have even better company.
Keep it tight and real, crowfly.

Thank you, Loki. I do believe we both have God's attention. Miracles may not be obvious or immediate, but in the long run...

Thank you, Minerva. I'm glad it holds up with more readings. Some of yours do too, although my multiple readings and listenings to "The Cowboy" might be a little suspect.
