Sacred
Divining guile
pooling around my heart
slithering in the garden of my mind
sensing hate dark and deep
poisoning my days
I drink an elixir
feeling for the knife
buried in my back
slippery with blood
grasp the hilt
slash at my target
cutting through the lies
the sun shines through
nature my haven
a balm to the soul
darkness has it's place
I'm both light and dark
different sides of the same coin
target me if you will
I'm an open book
an easy mark
though if you poke at me
without cause
i'll stand my ground
this place is sacred to me
it need not be polluted with venom
put the darker days behind you
I'm no threat to your heart
we need not be enemies
my third eye is open
you've made yourself clear
let's swim in the ocean of peace
as the salt cleanses our wounds
pooling around my heart
slithering in the garden of my mind
sensing hate dark and deep
poisoning my days
I drink an elixir
feeling for the knife
buried in my back
slippery with blood
grasp the hilt
slash at my target
cutting through the lies
the sun shines through
nature my haven
a balm to the soul
darkness has it's place
I'm both light and dark

Really fine, Crim. You note your light and dark sides with no apologies. "This place is sacred to me." Could that be a forum for writing poetry? And that ocean of peace, with salt for cleaning our wounds. The waves need not be disruptive for friendship.

It's refreshing to me that you realize you
possess light as well as that darkness you
so often connect with...ur light denotes hope
n I hope that signal a sweeter, gentler future
for you my friend :)

Re: Sacred
ahh..the perfection in brevity! Could sense the strong stance taken, the duality yet tge dominant guiding form. Sharp incisive n increasing in intensity (which many poets lose as they reach ending verses) as i read thru..late here but a v.worthy read from.ur v mighty pen Crim! Tq fr this:)

"Divining guile

Fantastic word play - I especially love 'diving guile'.
Breaking through that venomous bracken to arrive at a lighter offering of healing.

Beautiful stuff, Crim. I like this edgy philosophical side of your poetry, I like it a lot. I can totally relate to the thoughts and emotions being expressed here too.
It's a strange coincidence for me that yesterday I was in the surf with a mate, talking about the cleansing power of the ocean. It's some kind of magic.
