this mask of mine
I hide behind this mask of mine
its a mask of joy, a mask of love
a mask of "everything is fine"
you all think that I'm so perfect
so innocent and sweet
that's just the mask, the real me you cant meet
I hide my shame, my hate, my tears
behind this mask of mine
a mask of "i have no fears"
i wish someone would see beyond this mask of mine
someone patient and kind
someone who understands all the pain it hides
this lovely mask of mine
what lies beneath the surface?
pieces of a broken child
a twisted mind that runs wild
you think you love me,
but your wrong..
you love the mask that hides who I am
my mask of beauty
my mask of smiles
my mask that makes me seem worthwile
you should leave while you still can
before the monster underneath makes you as broken as i am.

ahhh we all wear masks at one time or another, some of us wear more than one. sometimes the mask becomes our true selves. i know the feeling of having a mask. thats why i like this site. i need no mask

This is a beautiful anaelogy poem :) Very true and I can tell as the reader that it comes from a very deep place. I also love the rhythym and the effort made to ryhme it. Well done!

I think most people can relate to this poem, as we're all wearing masks, somehow or another. Wonderful.

with sincerity....and self loathing....and it almost begs underneath it all... for the reader to disregard the whole thing. Good stuff...hope to see more from you

i cant give you friendly help or advice. but i liked your poem, the only thing that bothers me is you spelled pieces wrong. in the fifteenth line
