Walking the Hall

In rafters of the Great Hall
perched Tyto, giving eye
to any movement he saw
Gilded paintings hung
like favorite memories
beckoning one in
the decorated Oinocho full
how could I resist
sipping from the kylix
drunker after each cup
I ran about from
one end of the Hall
to the other, stumbling
crying out to the wonders
I had seen, look...
that one there...
and that one...
see how the eyes follow
no matter where You are
that's craft...
Tyto glided down
began traipsing along
I said
"I never realized
You have feathers
on Your beak"
he opened up to me
and screeched.
In some odd way
I understood
what he was saying.
"Symbols of the feather,
celestial, Heavens
one with the Sun
  connected
You'll never walk
this Hall alone"
I smiled and fell
on my ass
having drunk
one more cup
