Moving On

Laughter echoes
in alleyways
flooded by water
from drainpipes
overflowed by
the falling rain

Shivering, one step
at a time
I walk up the stairs
forever walking up
echoes of footsteps
like lonely heart beats

Lit by the gangrenous
neon light
green light, black shadows
the dark night echoes
with loneliness
the door knob is cold

a hot cup of coffee
dusts in my eyes
I smile and remember
I am moving on.
