As a...

As a young child I thought as a child...
It was dreams deferred that led me astray...
Visions of perfectionistic ideals to attain were not in my cards..
Instead spirals of doubt, self-pity, and wallowing depression
Enveloped my being...
Supposed judgments of others became a measuring stick I couldn't meet...
And then as a woman...I thought as a woman.
I learned to love my curves, my beauty marks, my extra love in places....
I learned to walk with a sway that said I know who I am...
I strived to smile with a confidence that could leave questions...
I enjoy looking into the eyes of complete strangers and giving them my complete attention...even just for moments...because as a woman..I can!
I don't need to evny others, I can appreciate another lady's walk, her dress, even her talk...because woman to woman..no competition just knowledge that in this woman, in every woman, is the ability...to rock!
