I woke up the other day
I woke up the other day
to find
insecurity had made me breakfast
the toast was burnt from doubt
the egg of esteem was runny
the sausages of belief rolled off my plate
the capability beans shrivelled.
you wouldn't envy the position
why would you?
my coffee had the skin of loathing over it
I was nearly sick
I have consumed too much of this food for far too long
I'm hungry for a cooked consolation
and it not always coming round,
I sleep in.
