secret garden
in my grief i saw a light
fields of daisies planted
especially for me
a safe place to rest
where i can sleep
far from the howls of demons
that hunt me in my dreams
you stand at the gates

assigned to me since birth
you smile casually
& say
"we've seen worse"
"sleep in the garden
kept just for you
no choking weeds
or mocking thoughts ...

meth tears
inside i cry
for the drug battle lost
another day
fear has me by the throat
what if you're found out?
you would lose all you love
for what?
because you couldn't
take another day down
what compels you to go on?
when you should lie sleeping
until your body is healed
you need to think of those
who most need you
your drive to write
will not fail you
in your darkest hours
you will find inspiration
let...

Rage
i can't get it straight
supression of emotion
is what i'm master of
bone deep
my internal rage
burns out of contol
& don't you know
i feed it
drug demons bark
& i give them fresh meat
pieces of my inner beauty
self dignity
& pride
all to appease
the beast that craves
with a race to the death's gates
i can't get there fast enough
as i run with the down trodden ...

whispers
the small quiet voice within me
went silent one day
it abandoned this lady
left in the dark
i reached with my mind
to the furthest reaches of space
& was left wanting
a forlorn child of the universe
with no one to call to
i wandered the streets alone
viciously tormented
by the voices from without

you don't know my pain
you don't
because I never
let you touch me there
not the source of the ache
where fear meets real hurt
they secretly conspire against me

plot my downfall
if not for them
I may embrace all life has to offer
instead my head is full of what if's
always waiting for the worst

where my soul takes shelter

out of the shadows
in the depths you left me
without a voice
as I lie internally screaming
with nowhere to loose it
my pain became rage
turned inward
I lashed out at myself cruelly
with words that bite & cut

sitting among the sunflowers
i quietly scribe poetry
on their petals
written in sunshine
that is emitted from the soul
delicate are the sighs
& whisperings
that spring from this source
like a gentle breeze
to tickle the senses
for them who inhale
my tender musings
while wandering
through these secret fields
i've engraved them
with love & compassion
to bring joy
on the loneliest of days...

the light
that shines within
is known
with every utterance
it's tasted
& tried
to see if it's fruit
ripened on the vine
of wisdom
for if it be true
from far & wide
the masses will come
to sample your beauty
caress every word
until it shines bright
with nuance & shade
let your lips spill honey
brought forth
from the divinity
you have wrought
from a source
of both pleasure...
that shines within
is known
