Justice Is Blind!
Young, black male is gunned down walking with Skittles and drink home
Hispanic male, with father in the justice system accused but set free to roam
JUSTICE IS BLIND!
Woman shoots in the air as a warning to an abusive husband; gets time
Really? What was her crime?
JUSTICE IS BLIND!
A man sells drugs to feed his family and survive; gets 25
A white woman sells stock to avoid loosing money gets only 5
JUSTICE IS BLIND!
You got money and favor; you walk away free
No money. No favor. You suffer like a worker Bee

My earliest memories of you were nurturer, caregiver, and sister
Held my hand, kissed my boo-boo’s, as if you were a healer
We were separated due to unrest and coupe
No matter the distance I never forgot you
Finally reunited and you continued to do
As we grew into adults you never fled
Never knowing where the future led
You had dreams, goals, and aspirations
We spent hours on the phone; discussing patients
Over the years we laughed, cried, and motivated each other
Never judging, always encouraging like a mother
The day came that...

Calories
First of all FUCK YOU!
No one wants to count you
Every time I’m hungry I have to consider you
When I don’t; you make me pay
Sneaky and quickly affecting my weight
You suggest a daily limit
Why restrict? Dame It!
In the gym, I’m going all in
Taking time refusing to let you win
One of these days I’ll beat you, I swear
And then no one will care what I wear….
No one wants to count you
Every time I’m hungry I have to consider you

The Streets
Let’s take a walk down the street
Look at all my people starving; can’t eat
The crack pipe rolling still hot
No place to lay a cot
Every person has a hustle
Don’t get caught in a tussle
There are the addicts, dealers, and forgotten
Mouth so dry; it feels like cotton
Haven’t had a bite to eat today!
Begging since 5am melting away
Tired of thieves in shelters
Wearing everything I own; feeling sweltered
Wrong decisions clouding my head
Oh, how I wish I had a bed
Selling my body on these corners
Got the wrong John
Now...
Look at all my people starving; can’t eat

Forgiven
The slap shook me like an earthquake on Maui
Was it the sting or burn that made me say Wowie?
Point taken; I can’t deny
Guilty, my plans went awry
Too late now what’s done is done
We can’t go back no need to run
To make amends; I’m driven

Respect
It should be automatic
Not Erratic
In the way that we speak; as if not to make me weak RESPECT!
The calm in the storm; that keeps the norm
You should be my rock; even if you're in shock RESPECT
The light at the end of the tunnel
A voice of reason flowing like a runnel
The words you seek; should make me leap RESPECT
Knowing exactly when to deflect
Because at the end of the day we know it’s about Respect..

Admiration
Sleeping silently beside you
Your beauty; how it wooed
Feeling you push back against me
Immediately I know you feel free
Intensity of your thrust
Gives me such a rush
My heart races; lips tingle
I hold back
Unclear if you’re ready to mingle
I lay and adore
Quickly realizing I must explore
I hold you gently
Pull you closer
You’re not a poser
I hear that gentle moan
Which really sets the tone
In that instant
I throw back the sheets
