Let that imagination soar!

Grey, chilly day, but the sun is expected to emerge! I cannot believe Ostara is less than three weeks away!

Just finished posting HRC's latest news assessment. It always seems to be social security and/or veteran's benefits that are targeted for cuts rather than corporations, some of which didn't pay a dime in taxes last year. It's shocking!

Annd it's grey again! But bring the rain! Spring cometh regardless!

Just posted the latest HCR letter which goes in depth about the history of corporations in the role of government.

There's a term that describes a situation when a court makes something out of nothing: It's called legal fiction. This jargon refers to the law's ability to decree that something that's not necessarily true is true. It's somewhat like a person in a discussion agreeing to accept an opinion as fact for the sake of argument in order to move the discussion along. Legal fiction helps to move proceedings along.

A sterling example of legal fiction is what's called corporate personhood. Think about it: A corporation isn't a person. It's a business, a pool of investors' money used to conduct transactions and hopefully make a profit. But in order to determine the legality of business proceedings, the legal fiction of treating a corporation as an artificial person was created.

Ahavati, as a reader/friend, I'd like to mention that you have your own folder for this type of political stuff, that you've been adding to your comments here.  I do not think that this folder is for such a purpose.  It's about our general well being, I'd surmise.
I avoid politics on DUP for a very good reason. Because it's so divisive. I want to enjoy who we are as individual writers. Can we allow that to solely exist in this folder?
I respect you a great deal, as a quality creative writer.  I avoid your politics because I'm not on DUP for that.  So perhaps keep it in its place, so that I and we all can enjoy the general camaraderie of us being creative writers. And not servants to a political cause?

Hi, Syxian, thanks for the kind words; the feelings are mutual, which I'm sure you can judge by my RL's of your works.

Firstly, I don't think I've ever seen you in this thread before ( but I could be wrong ), so it's nice to see you here. Secondly, avoiding politics is your choice; however, I am a political person, as well as a poet, mother, grandmother, and friend among many other things. What is happening in this country on a daily basis affects me deeply. So, naturally, on a daily basis, it's going to be included in my "So, how are we all?" Especially with so much at stake.

Perhaps you should consult with the thread starter regarding her intentions for this thread? She doesn't seem to mind these posts.

My question to you is why can't you just ignore what you don't want to participate in or read?

I noted you mentioned NaPo getting all the attention in the Poem of the Month thread instead of nominating a poem ( but perhaps you've already nominated three, I don't know ). NaPo is a big deal. It's international and it only happens once a year.

The Poem of the Month thread happens monthly all year. Members know it's there when they want to nominate a poem. Perhaps no one has read an additional poem they feel nomination-worthy. Or, perhaps who they wanted to nominate has already won within the allotted year. Instead of singling out NaPo as the reason, why not just ask outright why members aren't nominating poems?

Why cast a shadow over an annual event about Poetry?

I suggest ignoring what you don't want to participate in and allow others to express themselves and how they feel naturally. If I was violating a guideline, perhaps it would be different.

This is not in any way meant to be combative or sarcastic. While I do appreciate and respect your honesty, it just blows my mind that some here ( not necessarily you because I'm unfamiliar with your intentions ) are hell-bound-and-determined to control what others do instead of having the strength to just ignore what they don't wish to read or participate in.
I do everyday. I don't click forum threads I don't want to read. I gloss over certain member's posts I don't care to read.

I do it every day. I live and let live.

Well… I’m fkn thrilled because the U.K. is on high alert for the Northern Lights tonight. I’m not sure if it will reach us because we’re kinda far down in the valley, but I’m crossing my fingers!

Other than that, it’s been a lazy Sunday. And thank god.

Ahavati,
Firstly, bless your heart.
And in no particular order, I offer this.

I did not say anything about NaPo negatively. I simply said perhaps it is taking time away from POTM.  You put the negative spin on my comment. I am not surprised.
Also, and again, you bring a totally off topic to this thread, by bringing up my comment in POTM. Why not answer me there, where it is relevant.
And, the NaPo is wonderful for those who choose to participate.  Good luck to all in that.
My point of view, in regards to POTM, is I want to give OTHER writers some attention in hopes that they can get some motivation to write throughout the year. It reaches "us" as in this group of writers, as a whole. I welcome all to submit their best writes and perhaps get some recognition for it in the now. Not once a year. Don't deny the "regulars" .
Also, not everyone has the time to invest in NaPo. Yet they can hopefully submit one awesome write a month, and hopefully get some acknowledgement for it, even in POTM. And those are the types that I want to encourage.  Most of us have other tasks that prevent us from being too frequent here, such as a dedicated NaPo thing.  Yet all matter, when they can offer something.
Again, this belongs in that folder, but you brought it here.
As far as political motivations, it takes away from the personas of who we are as writers. You cut off readers that just may enjoy your creative ability, yet are soured by your pushing political agendas within the same atmosphere.
Obviously I stay out of your politics thread. But, whether today is my first day, a frequent day, or my last day, I am here now in this thread. So you mentioning not seeing me in here before is also irrelevant. It's an open forum.
I am a voracious reader. And even if I do not choose to comment in a thread such as this, I do get enjoyment at times reading about how some of "us" are doing out there.
Yet, you taint this thread with your leaning political agendas. And it sours those of us who just want to read about the circle of us, and not about how shitty or not the big ol world is.

I do not expect this to matter to you, at all. The control you mention, as far as others, I stay away from. My bother is how this is a nice, easy going thread. Interesting for its originality in how we come together with our day to day check ins.  I get enjoyment from it. Because I am an avid reader, and I like ALL people, regardless of affiliation to anything.
Write creatively, well. That's it. With that, we as writers are interesting to me.  Because I'm curious about so much. Without choosing a side.
You push your "side", albeit subtlety, too broadly.

Thanks for the well wishes on NaPo, Styxian! The team appreciates that, as I was not the only one bothered by your mention of NaPo in the PotM thread.

As far as messaging, you could've messaged me too, but decided to put it all out here. I answered honestly and posed valid questions as to why you just can't ignore what you don't like. I do. Every. Single. Day. here I ignore posts and threads I don't like. Because far be it from me to attempt to judge what anyone else posts if what they post matters to them. My choice is to ignore it, not attempt to influence them to change to please me.

Lastly, being we southerners all know what "Bless your heart" means, I won't return the sentiment. And that's not putting a negative spin on it. It's being polite. And the fact that you "weren't surprised" by my comment tells me all I need to know about what you truly think of me. Which, btw, I could care less about.

Red sky in the morn sailors be warned?  Today's forecast is a predicted 71° and mostly cloudy! Deciding whether or not to hang laundry today. If I do it will rain. If I don't, it won't! I remember my mother saying, 'A little rain never hurt the laundry."

SCOTUS is announcing a ruling tomorrow! Hopefully it will put an end to the 'presidential immunity' speculation flying about.

The sun is shining, it’s supposed to be in the 70s, and there is a daisy for my March calendar photo. It can’t be a bad day!
