Most poems on sex on this site are excruciatingly tedious. Writers do not seem to appreciate that what is novel and important for them is simply commonplace for everyone else- billions of people on this planet practise it every day.
Unfortunately there are some very fine DU poets who have the sex obsession. The best practice is to subscribe to their updates and, like me, never open Extreme Content pieces.
As a way of discovering how many people treat DUP as a refined pornography site I submitted an Extreme Content piece entitled DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. It got over 500 reads- indicating just how meaningless the number of reads is in judging poetic quality.

Exactly. Sex isn't all bad. I mean fucking is meaningless, but making love is beautiful... Or so I hear, never really slept with a guy I actually loved yet... But anyways, in our screwed up, over complicated, smart phone infested society, sex does sell and that fad, as frustrating as it might be, is indeed translating into the poetry world... so we either must conform or radically rebel. I say radically rebel. I refuse to let derogatory terms like 'pussy' or 'cunt' or 'cock' or 'dick' anywhere near my poetry, I prefer gladiolus sword and butter knife's sheath and romantic metaphors like such.

I plea here for you, to please step forward and explain your actions. (because I'm bored mostly.)

basic human instinct, kind of answered your own question there, you could be in church and still get a boner when the lass in front kneels down to pray and her red thong slips into view, point is we all have it, an urge to spread and gather seed.
as for writing and views, if you're checking views on your poems, then you're doing it wrong anyway given this is as you say a site for intellects and such, getting bogged down in numbers is hardly poetic
as for the whys, look at media, advertisings, a nice pair of tits will have you thinking about buying anything from a mousetrap to a penis enlargement course of pills ...word of advice, if you have an addictive personality don't buy the pills, sometimes the blood loss can be overpowering.

Perhaps, exotica is the only poetry they can fully comprehend. Everything else it just boring and a lot of words that you got to google. I should know; I use to be the same way. It was not until I started to really "listen" to music, that I begin to understand poetry. It is a beautiful thing!
