Heavy Weight (II)

Do the scars know their names?
Do they know the threat they trickle and heave?
The heavy weight that consumes you till you shatter and break.
Push comes shove fueled by hate
Grab the horns, twist and break
Feed the rage, a new war to wage
Your aggression has become your new found obsession.
The hate escalates to a new recession.
Sometimes we are prone to crack and say things we know we can't take back, to be abrupt and brash but stutter and crash
Spit the fire, hash it out, do you even remember what I was so mad about?
Swallow up my words, try to muffle them out, choke on the bitterness poised in each vowel, the fowl venom hidden in each syllable.
Defile and deprive, try to tear me down.
Pull me down from my pedestal, I'll claw my way right back to the top.
I'm a wicked force of nature you can't stop.
Build me up, tear me down tell me how I never meant shit to you.

(This piece, based on the Elton John song of the same name and best

Funeral For A Friend

Solemni Pompa

Under a dark gray sky
the mourners come
beckoned by the church bells toll
and a distant organs lament
undeterred by the chill Winter wind
they come to remember
the life of a friend

Alta Tristitiam

The church doors swing wide
the mourners enter in
greeted by the anguished dirge
of the thunderous organ
played in a vain attempt
to quicken the dead
and banish the demons within

Spera Triumphi

A single white dove
is released into the gloom
as if the soul rises triumphant
from the dearly departed
and travels upward to paradise
only to return on Resurrection day

Miseratiónum Monimentum

The pews now filled
with family and friends
the tender requiem begins
what a wonderful father he was
a devoted husband too
a poem is read
his favorite hymn is sung
projected images are viewed

Lamentatione Flebili

The grieving wife loudly weeps
rushing to the coffin
crying NO! NO! NO!
others join in sobbing
the widow turns to meet their gaze
the tear stained faces
of many women she doesn't know

Celebratio

Close friends ascend the pulpit
to celebrate his life well lived
funny things he said
crazy things he did
the sound of his laughter
the warmth of his smile
memories that keep him alive

Laetus Exitus

Fueled by happy thoughts of him
smiling the pall bearers lift the casket
on shoulders they carry
his eternal vessel
not as a box with a corpse inside
but as the victorious hero of the game

Pompa Sepulturae

The mourners turned celebrants
follow their friend’s mortal shell
outside and into the ancient church yard
made glorious by the sun’s rays
penetrating the dark sky
as if heaven has descended
to welcome him home

Ultimum Vale

Family and friends encircle
the newly dug grave
nestled between ancestors
long since departed
the final resting place is blessed

the widow overcome with grief
christens the coffin lid
with a handful of soil
she kisses a single red rose
her tears, like morning dew
glisten on its delicate petals
she places it near his heart
as he is lowered into the ground

Fortunate

ff
He wakes alone
She wakes alone
Two souls yearning for true love

mp
He enters in
the small cafe
to buy a cup of
coffee

mp
She’s sitting there
lost in her book
looks up when he starts
speaking

mf
It cannot be
him standing there
she feels her skin start
tingling

mp
His eyes meet hers
they share a smile
they had been longtime
lovers

mp
Turning away
to pay his tab
he looks as she’s just
leaving

mf
He let her go
12 years years before
a choice that left him
grieving

mf
Back then she ran
because he loved
solely his mistress
Wall Street

mp
He rushes out
calling her name
his heart, the street were
empty

mp
Reentering in
the small cafe
to sit where she’d been
seated

mf
When on the chair
he finds a book
the one that she’d been
reading

mp
She marked page 12
there wrote a note
that made his heart start
singing

mp
Let’s turn the page
forget what’s past
begin a brand new
chapter

mf
Please come to me
if you still care
I live at the same
address

mf
He quickly leaves
looks for a shop
to buy her long-stemmed
roses

ff
He’s at her door
She lets him in
mind, heart and soul and
body

ff
He starts to speak
she says please don’t
just hold me close and
kiss me

fff
Her breast now bare
pressed to his chest
she feels his manhood
growing

fff
Guiding him in
filled to her core
she whispers welcome
home dear

fff
Sound the horns
ecstasy's fanfare
let the climatic
timpani beat
clash the cymbals
cries of loves consummation

Postlude

mp
Alone she wakes
he enters in
with long-stemmed rose and
coffee

song:  Someday We'll Be Together Again - Bonjr

Hopelessly Happy inst. by Bonjr

If life is a ride,
my hands are held high,
I'm getting by,
but I want to fly!

If life is a ride,
will you stand by my side,
I'm fixing mine,
before I die!

I need to decide for myself,
my health is a measure of wealth,
happiness can't be found in something else,
yeah, happiness comes from the self!

I am always running from something,
some say they see my seams splitting,
Daily barely awake,
Take some potions to get through the motions,
divided along emotions,
looking for the quotient,
Supposing as I sit here alone,
so it goes I scroll through my phone,
no new notifications,
except for the bitches constantly hating,
they want to see me floundering, failing,
debating if I am just faking,
fuck it I am done with this bullshit,
see me take it,
see me make it!

If life is a ride,
my hands are held high,
I'm getting by,
but i want to fly!

If life is a ride,
will you stand by my side,
I'm fixing mine,
before I die!

I need to decide for myself,
my health is a measure of wealth,
happiness can't be found in something else,
yeah, happiness comes from the self!

yeah.. happiness comes from the self,
what else do you want to know?
This world is cold but our souls are warm,
listen no one is better some may be clever,
some say the man has control of the levers,
I say let's plan an endeavor,
and forever remember we are in this together...

yeah, forever remember we are in this together...

yeah, forever remember we are in this together...

yeah, forever remember we are in this together...

Orion

They say you came
from the middle star,
one of three they said
long necked
and cane fingered;
a grey shadow come home

surfed your strange wormholes,
journeyed at warp speed
towards our humble trees
and you never travelled alone.

The Mayans saw you
in the form of a bird,
built their temples
in your belt line

and I wonder if they knew
what I always pondered,
if you skate the edges
of the heavens
watching me

disguising your knowledge
in the irony of a shepherd,
while three pounds of brain
roam curious constellations
in great herds of the unknown.

CADENTIBUS CALIGINE

Bleak soliloquy, my lamentation
Carressed by momentary drafts
A door that stays shut 'til the end
Left with nought but hatred

The light pours into the room
Scattered across vapid walls
As I reminisce from the dark
The pain of longing for the sun

Rot festers here
I know the carrion
I am soon to be one

Black gown of night
Moon weaves between the bars
Rope drapery 'neath my flesh
Sanguine exhalation
I have but lingering ire
To grant me another day

Take me back to the moors
Torn from within your final words
Once I am born again
Then, you will remember these eyes

Spurred from sleep, heartbeat strung
Echoes through the stone halls
I know that death has come

The sky wrote my epitaph
As the clouds blanket the sun

Vacuous, I reach for the fog
Darkness emerged from her lips
And motion becomes the world
Slave to the gird, I turn

A feint beyond my struggle
Her gaze shifts from me
I see the mist of apathy
A mask for her sorrow

A lone image burns through
Sears me with a last cry
Choked between each labored breath
A weight falls upon my shoulder
And a charnel hand on hers
That last stole my dream

Saw the blade disappear
Blood escapes her throat
Falls into the dirt
To meet me in Hell

Take me back to the moors
Torn from within your final words
Once I am born again
Then, you will remember these eyes

I look at the stars in the night
And I wish
I had someone to share this view with
Maybe you're in the sky

Maybe you're the wind that blows
And plays tricks on me
As I try to catch the kisses you blow
Because love is confusing
If you're the wind
Lift me up
Don't let me go

Could you possibly be the sun
That wakes me up in the morning?
And peeps into my room
As i look for something new?
If you're the sun
Show me my bright side

Are you the rain?
That wakes me up from my dreams?
To show me you're in pain?
That hides the tears on my cheek?
If you are the rain
Please cleanse me

I think you are the bugs
That just don't like me
Maybe you're just scared
Because you always bite me
I don't know why
But don't be afraid of me
I won't hurt a fly

Or could you be a bird
Beautiful, attractive, like an angel with wings?
That always fly away from me?
Because sometimes I'm afraid
And can't imagine that someone as beautiful as you wants to spend the rest of their life with me

ON MY WAY HOME

(to You)

I was down, in my darkest hour
hopeless with no help coming around
my meager voice fallen to deaf ears
dried tears adorned this once happy face

Until the silence of having no one to turn to
I never heard, You
forgive this sinner
for I lost my way
now, on my way home - to You

Heart, clouded with regrets and doubt
life choices that took a wrong turn
somewhere, I seem to fall astray
forsaking myself and everything that I own

Until desperation overcomes pride and dellusion
I never choose, You
forgive this sinner
for I lost my way
now, on my way home - to You

This hand of mine, bleeding as I toil
digging deeper, a grave that's my own
I was breathing, poison filled abundance
that light, not the sun but a truck's headlight

Until it hit and run with my bartered soul
I never knew, You
forgive this sinner
for I lost my way
now, on my way home - to You

I was alone, You were there
      embracing me, with unconditional love
I was defeated, You were there
      comforting, encouraging, giving hope
I was dying, You were there
healing me with faith, full of life

I hear You
Oh Lord, You
yes, it's always been You
forgive this sinner
for I lost my way
now, on my way home - to You

Authors Note:

This song I particularly like because of its devotional meaning. The message I hear is: you are never alone, He is there with you, always. Its just that we never heard Him until all around is deathly silent.
