A LECTURE ON KNOWING EYE EMERGENCIES:

DRIVING AROUND TRYING TO SAVE MY EYES

Driving around to save my eyes
Meant seeing a physician who said
They knew nothing as only an Eye Doctor would do
Then sent us to Urgent Care
Where there was a kindly old Doctor there
Who saw “something”, but did not have the equipment
Sent us to a hospital fifteen minutes away
Where we waited for one hour
To be told we were in the wrong place
Got once more into the car
And drove to Ann Arbor
The nightmare had just begun
As the streets only one way run
Finding emerg at the U of M
Meant making four attempts
Finally when we found the place
Into a dark room I was placed
Where a harassed resident came to see me
But was called incessantly
One hour later we walked through the maze
Of halls in this hospital to get to Ophthalmology
With its big powerful machines
Waited for the first replacement to come
She looked at my eyes, saw “something”
Waited for an hour more
A resident higher and more secure
Looked again and said he saw “something”
By the time I was finished
My pupils had been dilated five times
We had to be escorted out to our car
Then even my sweetie was too tired to drive
Getting out of Ann Arbor was a mess
Driving and driving till we reached the end
Finally praying to all deities
We managed to find a way home somehow
That was not the end as this was a Saturday night
Tuesday came along, had to see my Ophthalmologist
Who like the others “saw something”
Finally by Friday I saw a Retinal Specialist
Who determined I had a detached retina
How it detached, no-one knew
It was fixed with cryosurgery
Which means lowering the temperature
Of the jellylike eye to make an eye popsicle
It worked for two years, until last Monday
When again the driving started again
Saw the doctor today
He saw “something”
We will have to drive his way
Next week.......

A pair of eyes

And lying there between sleep and wake
when shadows darted to and fro
and grave notions ebbed and flowed
until time stood still

a pair of eyes peeked through the drapes
searching out and honing in
on the stench of fear that had begun
to fill my chamber

I felt my helpless body rise
those eyes they held a scornful gaze
and in those eyes I saw a pyre
licked by flames of hell's own fire

not a single word could pass my lips
Christ those eyes they hypnotized
stripped me of my mortal flesh
spun my bones and locked my grip

and just like that the eyes were gone
away they strayed I was alone
alone and scared and scarred and pale
but glad I lived to tell this tale

Here is my submission:

Volatile Vision

She uses her eyes as a tool for misery
She imagines the scene, opens her eyes, and poof: it appears
The fairy had blessed her with this gift
And plagued her with this curse
Because she took her gift for granted
…Personal gain…

I imagine my ex strangled to death
Her eyes opened
Her phone vibrated
“Hey, your ex was just found dead!!!”

I imagine my father raped with chicken pox
Her eyes opened
Her phone rang
“Honey, Oh My God, your father and I are in an ambulance, he has the chicken pox”

I imagine my reflection to be beautiful and desirable
Her eyes opened
Her reflection emerged
Holy Shit, I am gorgeous

These situations she continued to conjure
She thrived in her power
Her eyes were her lifeline to absolutism

Then fairy came to her in her dreams
And told her it was time to relinquish the gift
Voluntarily
She refused
She woke up from her slumber
I imagine my gift to be permanent
She then opened her eyes

Lights were flashing in her pupils
“Where am I?”
She was in a mental asylum
For paranoid schizophrenics
She hallucinated everything
The eyes do play tricks—
Volatile tricks.

These Eyes~

These eyes see the world and find it to be vile,

These eyes see that beauty and find in me a smile.

These eyes stare through people and see what's inside,

These eyes can see all of you but please try and hide.

These eyes sometimes trick me and show me false things,

Things that I usually only see in my dreams.

These eyes will find weakness and turn it to pain,

These eyes will be cruel, for these eyes are insane.

These eyes are a veil for a pitch black abyss,

These eyes hold a being you’d never dream could exist.

These eyes are a puzzle that will never be whole,

These eyes are just pieces of an even worse soul.

These eyes are like vampires that prey on the weak,

These eyes need that fear to attain what they seek.

These eyes hide behind what you’d think innocent,

These eyes stand a victor for that’s their intent.

These eyes will bring unease to those that catch a stare,

Some may think it pleasing but the rest will see what’s there.

These eyes are no friend to me and certainly not to you,

These eyes are just to see while the real beast sits and brews.

These eyes are that of darkness but not all of the time,

Sometimes these eyes return to me but the beast stays in my mind.

These eyes will give you nothing but take all they can see,

These eyes will find your weakness and use it when in need.

These eyes can fool a trickster and even stir his head,

These eyes will make him angry but his anger will be read.

These eyes can raise a giant and then bring him back down,

These eyes look out at nothing that’s why they can astound.

These eyes may look at naught but they can see all you present,

These eyes will look for everything that can cause you great torment.

These eyes, they show me all I’ve seen and some things I have not,

And sometimes what they show me proves itself to be a lot.

These eyes don’t care what woes have brought you great pain and unrest,

These eyes see you as feeble souls that have conformed to fit the rest.

These eyes are masters of disguise so if you see them don’t come near,

They’ll offer Love and great friendship but what they want may be severe.

If you see these eyes looking at you its best to go another way,

Cause if these eyes can pull you in its likely that they will betray.

So don’t be fooled by lying eyes its only tricks learned in the mind,

But once again, its not the eyes, its what lurks silently behind.

REAL EYES REALIZE !!!

I observed your eyes
Beautiful and dark
Telling the hidden tales
Of losing the inherent spark.

The kohl in the blue eyes
had a lingering effect
making way to infinite hearts
with so many compliments to collect.

Reflection in the eyes
with a blurred image
speaking a new language
of a fitted grimace.

Fighting with the answers
of the challenges blown
In realm of the known
Seeking for the unknown.

Removing bandage from the eyes
for the justice of your negative soul
Cascading tears needs goodbye
Fresh dreams are on the roll....

"Evil Eyed"

He lurks in the shadows like a black panther to prey
Hungrily desiring the subject of close watch
His eyes hold no restraint, no filter to his mind
Sick fantasies for when he gets her into his clutches

She looks so vulnerable, so sweet and tasty
His eyes pierce through her clothes and restraints
Undressing her in his mental musings now
Wanting her innocence to cruelly taint

He watches her and moves in, slow and silent
Ready to make his move of deadly sin
But her company of an elder brother arrives
This time his eyes do not win

"A Story in the Eyes"

Eyes are indeed windows
Leading to the heart and soul
They reveal much thats unspoken
Holding secrets untold

I see them as stained glass
Like the ones churches display
They hold an incredible story
Only if you spare attention to pay

Some hide deep rooted pain
Glistening and sparkling, polished from tears
Some hide wisdom lurking inside
Built from many lived years

Eyes are beautiful to gaze upon
Especially to see affection in a lover
Read the stories laid out to see
Or let them be read by another

Japanese-looking Eyes

http://farm8.static.flickr.com/7272/8168045408_da95eaa07c_m.jpg

When you were a child
you were always taunted
Because of your slanted,
distinct Japanese-looking eyes
You were called discriminating
and very demeaning names
Inspiteful, you proudly held your ground
Never said a word, your eyes did the talking

Those were the same eyes
that mirrored your caring soul
Which can see deeply
through my loving heart
When your tantalizing eyes
caught my mischievous looks
Our world got frozen,
our hearts went rub-a-dub-dub...
With a wink of an eye,
you captivated me
with your Mona Lisa smile
Cloaked me in your shadows
forever cherished in my dreams
Never thought the day would come
Our young love would burn forever
And light my path of darkness
avoiding further despair

Now we're back in each other's arms
to rekindle the old flame
Made vows never again
to extinquish the raging fires
Silently kept in our hearts
for so many unforgotten years
The bittersweet memories of the night
that we fervently shared
Will be etched in our souls eternally
Every time I gaze into
your Japanese-looking eyes...

Angel Eyes

Pain I felt
like a thousand stabs
On distended abdomen
the doctor said
appendicitis, its burst
tears in my eyes
I closed them
to fate I go

A gentle voice
a soothing caress
open your eyes
Look at me
I gazed into his eyes
light brown eyes
deep into my soul
the iris contracted

Gentle he receded
Into the dark
I slept in comfort
as they cut me up
Wake up wake up
someone said
I opened my eyes
but he was gone

Look at me
Into my eyes
the window to my soul
he whispers still
Long ago and far away
the now and then
he lives still
here and there
eyes, deep dark brown.

Her Eyes do the Talking

http://images.sodahead.com/polls/003563003/5830115023_Blue20Eye_answer_1_xlarge.jpeg

She has the cerulean sky
For a pair of beautiful eyes
Soulful and captivating
Every inch of your desires
Teary-eyed looks that could melt
Even your rock-hard heart and soul

Her eyes seem to guide you
To the righteous path
In your darkest hours
They brighten your way
Gazing at her deep blue eyes
Surely brightens your day

Wish you could soar to the sky
And grab the sun and the moon
Maybe a couple of sparkling stars
To replace those beautiful eyes
That now lost their sight
Silent prayers to grant your wish

Each night you could only dream of her
Tantalizing eyes so attractive and inviting
Countless hours of gazing with each other
An evening full of romance
Her eyes simply do the talking
While your fingers do the rest

Medusa Looks

http://hhnet.omtimes.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Medusa.jpg

Don't be fooled by her sweet smiles
You might end up among the piles
Of foolish suitors who defied warnings
Broken hearts were the prize for their yearnings

Don't be fooled by her innocent Medusa looks
You will suffer just like some forgotten folks
Who were captivated by her tantalizing eyes
They were hypnotized and frozen like ice

She has long and wavy hair unlike Medusa
Born and raised in the concrete jungles of USA
Beware of looking at her very distinctive eyes
For she may hold you captive of your own vice

It was known that a face could launch a thousand ships
But her eyes could cost you more than a gazillion chips
For when you get caught gazing at her
Your would become her slave forever...

if eyes hold secrets,
are windows to the soul,
then i am blind.

they are guarded
by the twinkle that blinds and deceives
or the curtain of tears that drapes over

someday we will have a moment
where its crucial to open the dusty drapes

are we ready to submit into the truth
and let someone in, just the same?
