- Ghosts of the Past -
I heard loud winds across the desolate sands,
Of a world forgotten, yet which I remember…
And, voices were in them, from distant lands!
Reminding, of the pain deep within the sender.
Those winds blew, hot, the voices so hollow…
No longer bound with the shells they did wear.
Now where they go, no living soul may follow,
And though dead, still are they filled with care.
They needed not, to remind me how they fell,
Emerging, hither, in wraithlike shapes black…
For, I was there, when they were cast to Hell.
I knew even then that they would come back!
Where once they dwelt, the gods dwelt after,
Having robbed them of flesh with mad device.
Gone was a lost people’s history and laughter,
Taken by fire, their spirits broken cold as ice!
Believing they are damned, they seek to steal,
The bodies of the living, which they corrupt…
Whilst seeking but to live, to love, and to feel.
They dine, eternal, but have not fully supped!
Children of that long dead god named Theta,
Their fury is eternal, and can never be abated.
From another age,
Still, do they rage!
I heard loud winds across the desolate sands,
Of a world forgotten, yet which I remember…
And, voices were in them, from distant lands!
Reminding, of the pain deep within the sender.

Haunted
It was quarter to 12,
Emily's alone lying in her white cold bed,
Suddenly she heard a noise she rushed down stairs,
It was coming from the lawn, she grasped some air,
She went to the kitchen and took a knife,
She walk through the back door
As she silently prays everything's going to be alright
She saw a teenage girl hiding behind the bush
As she turned her head she saw a woman lying beside the pool
And then a guy whom she knows not worth trusting
She hid herself and watched terrified at what's happening
The woman was raped, torn, he ripped her flesh,
He cut her throat with the knife he took from her grip,
He broke her neck, blood flowing through her vest,
The woman's dying, screaming for some help
Emily couldn't help her! She's so afraid she might be next,
She could only see the woman's red eyes,
Staring at her half awake, half dead,
The guy dig a hole and buried her there,
then he walks away with an evil grin on his face.
Emily knows her step father is wicked,
But her mom trust him, she will never believe her,
She remembered the girl who's hiding behind the bush,
Emily walks towards her, she sense fear in her eyes,
And then she spoke to Emily's surprise,
"Please Aunt Emily, it's been a long time!
Stop haunting this place! You've been dead for more than 25!
Grandfather is not here, 12 years ago he died!
Please Auntie, find peace, find the light!
you must go to the other side!"
Stunned as Emily begun to cry...
Sobbing in fears, she didn't realized she saw herself died!

Thoroughfare
It felt like an eternity since someone had sat
in that darkly shadowed room
where dust motes still dance unseen in the morning light
trickling through broken windows
Silence beats in the heart of shadows
a mirror to the blood that still stained the floors
forgotten by modern eyes
though superstition still pulled at their minds
1918
A thoroughfare turned fairground of macabre delights
for the creatures that came out of the rain
and into this mortal realm through doors unprotected
on that unholiest of nights
Weather-worn tape and hastily boarded up windows
the only monument left of a scene
no detective of the age, or any other
could plausibly explain with their scientific minds
Modern day
This place is still a thoroughfare for vermin
and children playing chicken with the haunted station
it’s demons hidden behind the padlocked door
that the brave only dare to brush with trembling fingertips
A splinter drips with blood into the shadows
igniting the memories of rain and carnage
and as storm clouds clamour overhead
a new reign of terror creeps out from the shadows
and into the world

- The Spirits in the Skull -
Within the rugged cliffs, there lay a hall carved of ivory,
Shaped in form like unto a great skull, grinning eternally.
Within its’ maw, framing a cavern of inestimable dark…
There, lay a forsaken region long abandoned, and stark.
The world on which that terrible crypt sat was long dead,
And now, none set foot within the great skull’s old head.
Three great queens lay in coffins of steel and clear glass,
No decay, had ever, into their perfect bodies, passed…
Until the earth shook and their dead spirits had returned.
In that hour, the coffins shattered and their flesh burned!
The devices installed, to cause them to thus incinerate…
Were by the spirits approach, caused to simply activate.
And those spirits went mad at the loss of their old forms,
Now reduced to ash unfit even for the mouths of worms.
Thinking to protect them, from any robbers of graves…
The ancients did not count on how a spirit thus behaves.
In seeking their perfect, but dead, forms after so long…
The spirits were mistaken, for robbers, sad and wrong!
Now they wail, eternally, and thirst for what was lost…
Having paid beauty's ultimate cost.

Congratulations to PierreTheMad for winning the competition. Your poem is one of the closest to what I wanted, as it’s like whisperings of ghosts reaching out to the living, sinuous little floating darkness in its bid to haunt. Gypsy red, you wrote a powerful poem on the spirit of the netherworld and its bid to step over to our worldly realm, impeded by a seer. Miss Indie, I love your poem, on a haunting: its surreal quality is scary. Kitty, LadyCyraXIII, Anouk, Paul and naked satirist, forbidden love and Jessica, thank you all so much for entering the competition.![](/images/forum/smilies/grin.gif)
