The Vernal
The ice witch drips, moisture to ground.
Mother rolls round, tips her hat to the sun,
whispers warmth to field and forest,
gentle the gestures, change has begun.
Ditch and hedgerow bursting maternal,
gather their shelters from leaf and moss,
popping blue bells call time on all listeners,
the bridge between seasons is ready to cross.
A whiskered twitch, sniffs out from burrow,
blankets of leaves are folded away,
high flying birds sense their calling,
gaggle and chatter, will fly today.
Bright yellow fanfares bunch and bustle,
orchestral flora tune up to play,
earth conducts each buzz and whistle,
batons of sunlight held by the day.
Natural blood begins to rush,
frisky feet follow courtships dance ,
hungry mouths find teats to push,
Springs in our step, life has its chance.

Green Orphan
Green grass, spring at the stable
I will help you if I am able
Just as green as the spring hills
Are my fledgling working skills
Orphaned girl working hard
I'll gladly fork hay in the yard
I know you need a child strong as a horse
But a willing little girl is not much worse
You are not young but while you are strong
I want to learn to help you both along
I don't want to be all alone
To cultivate a heart of stone
My mind is giddy, running wild
A highly imaginative child
You have the power to tame me
But please don't ridicule or shame me
And perhaps one day when you are weak
I will help you manage things when I am at my peak
I will help you if I am able
Just as green as the spring hills
Are my fledgling working skills
Orphaned girl working hard
I'll gladly fork hay in the yard
I know you need a child strong as a horse
But a willing little girl is not much worse
You are not young but while you are strong
I want to learn to help you both along
I don't want to be all alone

My mind is giddy, running wild

Nature's Concert
The rainbow sings against the sky
its colours dazzling way up high
blessed by drizzles from above
where clouds silently reside
below the blue lake slumber
fringed by weeping willows
that slips their drooping boughs
to the water below
under this tree, I sit
feeling gentle nature at its best
Clashes of clouds way up
the warm and cold collide
frenzy come the thunderclouds
spitting ferocious lightning
and roaring thunderclaps
the azure sky then turns to grey
the sun hides it’s pretty ray
the rainbow sighs out
and nature’s orchestra begin to play
full-fledged thunderstorm
I sit under this weeping willow
witnessing nature’s glorious show
the whipping lashes of the rain
the thunderous applause from above
the lights lighting up the roiling clouds
thousand watts of flashing beams
the stage the mountains and the forests
the drum rolls and the cymbal clashes
an encore and then silence
balmy cool air takes centre stage
and the concert is over.

Crazy For Springtime
- Crazy For Springtime -
What kind of season is the winter?
It’s all white and gray, and colorless!
Where’s the fun, when you shiver?
Plus, shoveling snow is just a mess.
We haven’t got much snow this year,
And that’s just totally fine with me…
When spring comes I’ll shed no tear:
Because I’ll be dancing silly and free!
I hate it when the frost kills the plants,
And dooms the flowers one and all…
But winter’s frost not ever supplants:
The song of spring when it does call!
I’m in a mood for springtime, today,
To be wild and crazy and sing loud…
And not care, what anyone will say.
I’m crazy for spring, and I’m proud!
Want to be crazy with me; its’ fun…
And asks so little when you’ll listen?
Before I’m through, I’ll feel the sun,
Even if snow falls and ice will glisten!
Crazy for springtime, that’s the theme,
When the trees sleep, time to dream…
I’ll throw a party and let my spirit soar.
Enough with all the cold, I want more!
Bring me the sun; I totally want it now,
I’ll show you fun as only I know how!
When I was out today, I’d noticed…
I’m kind of unique with the way I am.
My black and red pigtails, just bliss,
Are unique, like my choice to stand:
For what I believe in; what I desire…
And obey no other stupid command.
Just my own feelings, and inner fire…
Which are different and never bland.
I’m rocking my look, being myself!
All around me are ordinary people…
Boring like identical books on shelf,
Of dull libraries beneath tall steeple!
It’s like the winter, devoid of color,
Except for me, and my springtime…
Which bring me no end of comfort.
If I’m crazy, at least it feels sublime!
Want to be crazy with me; its’ cool,
And gives so much: if you’ll give in?
I know what I’m doing; I’m no fool,
I listen to those voices I hear within!
Crazy for springtime, that’s the theme,
When the trees sleep, time to dream…
I’ll throw a party and let my spirit soar.
Enough with all the cold, I want more!
Bring me the sun; I totally want it now,
I’ll show you fun as only I know how!
Well, you can tell I’m a colorful girl.
I don’t like things bland or typical…
I need lots from my own little world,
So things do not ever get to be dull!
Sure, winter will be here for a while,
And it’ll be a bit before spring rises.
But it doesn’t mean I will not smile!
I’m like a flower, full of surprises…
Sometimes a rose black as evening,
Other times as red as blood can be.
At least I’m honest, not deceiving…
I may be crazy, but I think sensibly.
Sometimes one way or just another,
Whatever my heart tells me is right.
Whether like a little girl or a mother,
I’m always me, both day and night!
I’d still like to take mallet and nail…
The crummy weather off into space.
Oh then the wind would really wail!
Because I’d bonk it right in the face.

When the trees sleep, time to dream…
I’ll throw a party and let my spirit soar.
