Hemispheres

I. Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres
Once through the black hole we’ll get lost in space
We’ll come to a place where eternal gods dwell
We witness the battle between heart and mind
And until the immortals hear our silent cry
We can converse with them to find balance

II. Circumstances
Disillusioned with what life has been so far?
Find the strength to go out experience it all
Find the confidence within yourself
Take chances regardless of circumstances
Otherwise, time and life will laugh at you

III. The Trees
Be careful what you wish for
Regardless of what our point of view may be
Because although we may not all be equal
Sometimes consequences can turn unexpectedly
May be then all our beliefs may change…

IV. La Villa Strangiato
Each movement, a ride, a bizarre dream
A stream of consciousness like you’ve never heard
But the scene is strange enough to be enticed
Entranced by the sheer musical virtuosity
And most likely this will never be seen ever again

Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere

Go-Go Gadget Gospel

Take me to the Church of Funk
Rap in Rhapsody
Bless with Style
Extol virtue with vim
Make that Soul sing and dance.

Crazy

We all could be crazy
Living in this crazy world
The complexity is maddening
Where only the mad succeed
Maybe we should all be mad.

St. Elsewhere

This Man is an island
named St. Elsewhere
and maybe it is paradise
destined for a deserted desert island
but a little company would be nice.

Gone Daddy Gone

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
but that is all behind
as the love is gone
looks aren't everything
only time tells true beauty.

Smiley Faces

What put that wonderful smile on your face?
Can you tell me
as it can all be hard,
yet I find it easy when you smile
and the world smiles with you.

The Boogie Monster

Something horrible is here
a dreadful creature of the night
what could this monster be,
why the monster: is me
and beauty will soothe the savage beast in the sheets.

Feng Shui

Short and simple
Auspices of Architecture
Attention to detail
Structured Style
Flowing format
to conform within Feng Shui.

Just a Thought

Thinking too much
enough to want to blow my brains out
while having to justify my existence
Trying anything and everything,
and suicide is just a thought....

Transformer

I can change form in a blink
There is more than meets the eye
What you see is not just what you get
might as well be a machine mate
Watch me do it!

Who Cares?

Basically I'm Complicated
And I could expand on that more
spouting cunning contradictions
Rambling rhetoric about reality
but at the end of the day: who cares?

On Line

I'm close to the edge
though I make it look easy
yet the smile is only skin deep
and I'm more than friendly enough
but nobody crosses that line.

Necromancer

I bet you're dying to meet me,
that's good because life sucks
and death lasts longer
enough for some fun,
Even so, maybe living is not that bad now that I'm sad.

Storm Coming

No art can herald it
and you will feel the force,
you can try to weather me
yet I am the inevitability of nature
For I am the Storm Coming.

The Last Time

Dance however you want to be
as dance will set you free
And it takes two to Tango
so take my hand and my lead
For I am Lord of the Dance.

The Doors- Strange Days

1. Strange Days

They follow us with their
Pulsating, acid blotched pupils
Through the haziest days
Into the dreamiest nights
Seeking strange days

2. You're Lost Little Girl

She awoke to a stripped bed
Box fan whirring
Cooling afternoon sweat against her
Last night's memories a fuzzed blur
That wouldn't return to those lost

3. Love Me Two Times

I loved you yesterday and today
I'll love you more tomorrow
I can't get enough
Of your blushing brilliance
Brightening  my beleaguered soul

4. Unhappy Girl

You danced the waltz
With the devil
And now you're paying your dues
All alone
An unhappy girl

5. Horse latitudes

When the storm struck
The sailors were in panic
They were taking on water
And had to abandon their cargo
Sadly, the horses had to go

6. Moonlight Drive

We jumped into the convertible
Driving down the beach highway
The breeze blew warmly off the sea
And the moonlight lit our way
With it's shimmering reflection

7. People Are Strange

I watched the mime dance
Pretend he was in a box
Lift invisible weights
Play tug of war with himself
And thought people are strange

8. My Eyes Have Seen You

I walked the streets
With hollow, useless eyes
Then you walked by and time stopped
My vacant eyes came alive
Because they saw you

9. I Can't See Your Face In My Mind

You disappeared to the east coast
And though we were one soul
We are no more
Now I'm lost
I can't see your face in my mind

10. When The Music's Over

Life goes on each and every day
Melodies passing the time
With each and every rhyme
But when the music's over
We've burnt out our lives

This was sooooo hard to judge because all the entries were excellent.

TCLily takes first place. That album of Kate Bush’s is a personal favourite and I loved how all of the stanzas effortlessly flowed into each other as one continuous piece.

DiamondDave75 from one Slayer fan to another, not only is the album a masterpiece but I just love how each stanza was a particular focal point from each track. I just really appreciated this entry.

Eerie, your piece focussed on the lyrical quality of the album and this transcribed into your entry. I felt it was one of the entries that touched me the most, so happy to award the runner up here.

Thank you for all the entries. They were all worthy and magnificent! Thank you so much for them all.

Until next time 😎

Having only joined Dup in July, this was the first whopper of a competition that I decided to participate in. Not only was I intimidated, I was certain that I'd never be able to finish. The thought of only (shhheeesh , yeah only)
5 lines per song didn't seem undoable, at first. Then I got started... lol.
I was chastising myself everyday at how hard it was apparently becoming for me to finish. Well, chastising meaning the creative use of self-deprecating humor...
When I finally finished, I already felt like a winner 🥇... so, that's the reason for this waaaaay to long note.
I had such an unexpected terrific time with this competition, it made me push myself to do what I thought I couldn't and I had fun at my own expense doing so.

Well Done you
&
Thank youuuuuuu!
I'll wear my emoji 'medal' for participating with super duper pride... lmao
xoxo

🏅 🏅 <——— honorary medals for kicking ass like a goodun

Honestly, never fear entering competitions on here. Everybody is equal. The trophy is just a bonus.

Plus it’s really great practice to take you out of your comfort zone. That’s my excuse after nearly ten years and I’m sticking to it 🙂
