Teacup

- Teacup -

I had a pretty doll and she had a name,
A porcelain princess with curly red hair!
Hair so red it looked like it was aflame,
And eyes so big that would just stare…
Her name was Teacup and she was sweet.
Though bad men broke her into pieces!
Didn’t you know that doll was also me?
I’m a little teacup but I’m also a princess!
I may not be short and I may not be stout,
And I’m fragile so please handle with care.
Sometimes I’m insecure and have doubt…
But I’ve got a lot of love I want to share!

Oh if you could see me as I am today,
The little girl I used to be you’d never guess.
But sometimes I let her come out to play,
And I put one a white and frilly dress!
Call me Teacup; call me anything you like…
Dress me, kiss me, caress me, and hold on.
Hold on to me when I feel the old fright…
Until we begin anew and the day is done!
Teacup, Teacup, a little girl’s dream,
Shattered in the dust of ages gone past.
I remember how I used to cry and scream,
But the old pain is gone never more to last!
Dry my tears, tell me it’s going to be okay.
You’re my big strong man, my protector…
Right now I’ve got to dance, my hips to sway,
When I think about you, and I feel the stir:
Of feelings like fire, of burning mad desire!
Love me, take me, just please don’t break.
You’re my knight, or a gentleman squire…
And I’m your Teacup, your thirst to slake!

I had a pretty doll and she had a face,
Porcelain and pretty, as us girls can be!
My hair changes colors like I’m in a race,
But I’m just the girl to score the victory…
Call me Teacup, and I won’t mind at all.
Though bad men broke my soul apart!
I’m coming back together and I won’t fall.
Because the one I love healed my heart!
I may not be short and I may not be stout,
And I‘m fragile so please handle with care.
Sometimes I’m insecure and have doubt…
But I’ve got a lot a love I want to share!

Oh if you could see me as I am today,
The little girl I used to be you’d never guess.
But sometimes I let her come out to play,

Teacup, Teacup, a little girl’s dream,
Shattered in the dust of ages gone past.

You’re my knight, or a gentleman squire…
And I’m your Teacup, your thirst to slake!

I had a pretty doll and she knew the way,
To be as cool as porcelain, bright as a star!
She could make people happy every day,
And her eyes never betrayed even a scar…
Her name was Teacup and she was bright.
Though bad men broke her into little bits!
Didn’t you know that doll was who I am?
And I’m starting to regain my shattered wits!
I may not be short and I may not be stout,
And I’m fragile so please handle with care.
Sometimes I’m insecure and have doubt…
But I’ve got a lot of love I want to share!

Magical Day

Better than any holiday, the day I had today!
I want to sing it from the mountains, so the words will stay,
In my heart forever more, until next we play.
Then I will sing this song again, in this same joyous way.
Kara, you have inspired me, and to your path I sway!
For today was a magical day. A truly magical day.

Today was such a truly magical day!
Kara and I, got to have fun and play.
I wore my prettiest dress and smiled,
He told me I was the world's prettiest child.
Kara's the nicest man I've ever known,
With no end of kindness to be shown.
We danced and played, and then I saw,
That his eyes sparkled more prettily than all.

Today was such a truly magical day!
It was wonderful for us in every way.
We laughed and danced, and sang too,
It was like every dream I had came true.
Kara taught me about magic and more,
He showed me all that can be in store.
Upon the magical path that we walk,
Of which he taught me when we talked.

Today was such a truly magical day!
There is so very much as I could say.
I've never felt so alive like I do now,
All the world is the stage on which I bow.
Kara's the sweetest man I've even met,
Having chosen him I will never regret.
He is more than any teacher could be,
Because he knows the secrets of destiny.

I will walk with you Kara, even across the stars,
Leaving behind my past pains and all my scars.
You are the gentle hand that guides me along,
And that is why for you I wrote this sweet song.

Shattered

i
Initiation by fire:
unsuspecting, inexperienced,
chronically shy young teacher;
rowdy class
unsupportive school.
Hairline fractures
from lifelong fragility
widened with 60-hour weeks,
excess stress,
little sleep.
A perfect storm.

ii
Increased pressure
from all angles
further strained fault lines.
"Just attend these two evenings
of sports training
so we can receive
some free equipment!"
So off she went,

iii
It didn't end well.
Double booked,
she left the training early
to travel to another job,
only to be foiled
by a level crossing at rush hour.
Doing neither one properly,
she lost all control
as the vessel finally exploded.

iv
Friends and family,
talking and time,
interests and creativity
provided the glue
to fix herself with.
Part-way through
the painstaking process,
she realised:
it wasn't possible
to stick the pieces back
the same way as before.

v
Now much older,
hopefully wiser,
she holds tight
to lessons learned through hardship.
You cannot do it all!
Look after yourself
because nobody else will,
Say no sometimes,
lean on others,
strive for balance.
She's been rebuilt
in a different shape.
