steps taken slow but steady
soon I will be going home
I wonder if the doormat say
welcome wanderer

I think of the home
by the lake
where water hyacinth grows
and birds dart in to drink

will the door be open
into the warm hearth
will the petunia bloom
in it's pot on the window

will there be sunflowers
nodding their pretty heads
under the bold blue sky
I don't know until then

these echoes
