I don't have suggestions as to  what city folk should do. I don't live in the city
I do care about freedom although I don't vote or pay taxes  I live my life as a sovereign.
I have no fear of contracting the virus  fear feeds illness.
Besides I feel I already had it and I wasnt that sick I had a fever  for 5 days accompanied by a cough
Because of the fact I do not live in the city or around a lot of people I was probably more susceptible  to viruses and flu
Before this illness I had not been sick in ten years
I did not do not self isolate I did not quarantine myself I usually shop for the entire month when I do shop .
I live up here on my  small ranch on the mountain  I have a well am semi self sufficient that is how I choose to live more people should do the same.  Get out of the city breathe a little

These I believe are better values and healthier for us as humans however modest have been tempered to the easy life they’re more herd animals than people or hunters these days. Anyway population density is a spreader of communicable disease, and viral load plays a part in how sick people get, so at the end of the day a lot of people in these situations need to be policed for the protection of others, I don’t see many other alternatives... otherwise body count goes up and hospitals overload...

I grew up on the lie of self-sufficiency, sold to many during the oil shocks of the '70's. My parent, like others, ran away to isolated locations to live out their days while the world ended.

Even as a young child the logic flaws were everywhere:

- the steel for our horse shoes
- the fuel in the chainsaw for the woodburner
- the copper armature in the generator in the waterwheel
- the medical assistance for injuries
- the phone line for ordering things
- sugar for preserving
- the road to town
- the salt for our churned butter
- the reinforcing steel for the house we built
- the tools in the toolshed
- dental treatment
- sufficient land for grazing stock or hunting

Even the concept of a family unit as being sufficient for the task was flawed. When we moved from hunter-gatherers to agricultural peoples our cultural unit size grew. By 2500 years ago the idea of the village, with specialists such as blacksmiths, hunters, weavers etc had made the family unit dependent on the whole. A family was no longer able to manage a basic standard of living.

Near my old home town there are several communes, where 'hippies' band together to live in economic freedom. None of the long term ones has survived with less than about 5 families.

My father knew this. I think it was part of what killed him.

Further, the comfortable first world virtue-signalling idea that everyone should go live in the hills somewhere would be an environmental disaster. The modern infrastructure feeding power, water, comms, industrial farmed foods etc relies on people in general living in concentrated spaces. Those who do not are doing so by reaping the benefits of all those innovations and inventions. Your cheap food, your cheap weapons, your cheap medicines all rely on people clustered in efficiently sized towns and cities. To spread all 7 billion people out to a hill each to piss and shit in their own systems, take water from their own wells, cut trees down to make heat etc would choke us to a shit-smelling standstill in about 5 years.

In developing nations people flock to cities for this reason.

It is only in developed, rich nations where people can choose to move away from centers of population but remain connected and able to leverage the produce and products of those centers. That they then try to pretend that they are somehow living some virtuous life, while eating from steel pots and pans, and driving on roads to shops that are all bought and paid for on the backs of industry is either uniformed or dishonest.

I'm not going to respond to every preformed word you transposed but, I will touch on those points where  you chose to be offensive .
I did not say i was FULLY SELF SUFFICIENT    I know what is needed to run a home and sustain a living.  lMy well consistently needs repair at the very least once per year .  I have spare parts although they would not last me a lifetime .
I worked very hard my entire adult life I cushioned my future with  wise investment s  to where i am now able to receive dividends plus  a pension
I am a former business owner who profited well upon selling my business HOW DARE YOU say I living off the backs of those who work in the cities
all I can say to that besides its completely untrue is   F       U      for your offensive response
You  APPEAR to be smart your I.Q numbers I'm sure will prove that
It's only book smart Hemi   Can you bait a hook well i hope so you live on a boat. Can you trap skin and prepare wild game knowing what diseases or ailment to look for  so you do not kill yourself eating them
Can you fire a weapon or a bow and arrow with precision
Make your own clothes prepare food from scratch make candles make paper  Hike 10 miles a day three days a week
Have you studied homeopathy  or herbal healing Do you know which minerals will help you achieve longer life and where to find them Have you studied Petrology  Midwifery Animal Husbandry The effects of Piezo Electricity on fault lines
The waxing and waning of the moon and its effects on your very life.
These are only some of the things I have mastered
I am not a dimwit Hemi  my label is Profound Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder  I do not take medication for I deal with it . When kids get back to school there will not be any extra curricular activities , no sports, choir, prom,no field trips, no changing classes
The students will stay in the same class  throughout their high school career
These are the new COVI D-19 CDC guidelines recommendations
Churches? their guidelines clearly cut between seperation of church and state no such thing anymore
The CDC is not changing the constitution they have thrown it away .
The search for the "asymptomatic" is how they will determine who goes to FEMA Camps in the train cars with shackles

Those who perceive discussion of a topic they themselves raised as an attack, must always be suspected of feeling guilty of that which they protest.

You do enjoy your riotous reactions to imagined slights, but, to quote the bard poorly, “me thinks she doth protest too much”.

(It is of no interest to me who you suck off. I imagine that,  in retrospect, you would have preferred to use that expression less ambiguously).

Everyone is here for some kind of entertainment. A review of your frequent outbursts of indignation might suggest yours is to perceive imagined slights.

I will leave your question, to a kiwi, about our proficiencies in basic bushcraft, hunting and fishing, and the gathering of kaimoana, since your countries  stereotypically poor lack of cultural understanding of another country’s way of life is par for the course.

In order to convince people of the virtues you frequently claim, it would first be useful if you did not interpret every discussion as an attack.

I certainly did. It led me to raise a few ideas about the luxury of a kind of lifestyle, as well as the inconsistencies in those ideas.

I enjoyed it.

I think you would have enjoyed it too, if you had seen it as a topic to discuss, rather than as some guy on the internet attacking you....a missed opportunity to educate me, or to expand on your world view.

(I am, as ever, within acceptable tolerances, waiting for a weather window to get the boat back to my current home port, for some navigation equipment repairs, since i am currently navigating by dead reckoning.....or luck, as I prefer to call it, especially when sailing at night)

Hopefully the authorities won't allow you to travel, Soara as you could be a 'super spreader' & cause another spike in infections. I don't see or understand why you think it is one rule for you and another rule for everyone else!
I doubt you'll be allowed to travel anyway, not without good reason; my hunch.

Actually , Billy , Amtrak is running , I will be taking it to
Northern California in few days , to where I used to live
just inland from coast by a mile...

There are not the restrictions you might think...

You can still take flights , train , etc...

Or drive a car , between states , or towns / cities...

Probably different where you are...

But I would not have it any other way...;)

Especially many of us in the U.S.

Hopefully that doesn't aid the spread of a virus that kills...never mind.

Stay safe, BW, none of us are finding this easy. Everyone copes in different ways. Let's hope the decisions we make for ourselves only impact others positively.

Absolutely...

Stayed by myself , or in house with roommates , for last two months...

Mostly in my room , working away , on projects , away from others...

Though , going to town when needed , taken a few rides carefully...

And I am one who does not fear...if others do , that is their choice...

If I pass this world , or others , so be it...

Most will return in the circle of existence...

Honestly , I now have a choice...to return , or not...

I have a very different view of reality , Imperfected Stone...

As the masons imply...one must work the *stone* , to
perfect it...and not fear in the process...;)

Stay Well !
