He’s crass
He’s totally off the wall
He’s vulgar
He’s funny as hell
And believe it or not
He holds women in high regard
He’s written some tribute poems himself
It took me some time
To get used to his poetry

Solace In Chicago
I got lost in the depths of Chicago tonight
Swaying to the horn sections sonic assault
Catching the beat with a melody so bright
Hearing this rhythm burning hot as asphalt
Smooth transition into another catchy hook
A walking bass line marches with the drums
Piano is simmering as vocals begin to cook
A blazing guitar solo where each note hums
Sometimes when this world gets out of hand
I find solace in music from some classic band
.. Tonight I found solace in Chicago

Gumdrops falling like rain
Falling from the sky
A shower of gum drops
It burns the tongue so sweetly
So chewy, so gooey – it reminds me to never give up my dreams
AIM HIGH! And climb the giant turd called life!
I wanna go where the acid gumdrops come from
You may want to value my ideas
Life is for living and death is for dying
So make like a gumdrop and flap away flying
Wait a minute... Are you paying attention to me?
Probably not!

Now listen up here...

I want you to play with me
I want to give you what you need
Put a smile that I can see
I want you to play with me
Why don’t you touch me with your hands
Let's do things with no plans
Why can’t we just be
I want you to play with me
Don’t you remember not long ago?
When we laughed and truly let go
I know how we can be

If you can't

Pulse
keeping in steady rhythm with the day
the energies wash over me and I awake
pulses of light interact with my soul
stirring it with information
guided by the earth's elements themselves
a positive reaction will return in kind
the earth responds to the vibrations I send out
if I'm having a bad day she knows
my negative energies will be corrected
by continuing to get a response from people and nature
soon realizing my error
my anxiety builds I feel for my touchstone
beautiful enegy is returned to me and I calm
the world...

In the midsummer heat
our blues are in retreat.
Joie de vivre in the street,
the disco pounds its beat.

I'm struck by the juxtaposition
between the darkness haunting you
and the flood of light
radiating from your smile
I think it's why you were designed
brightening an all too often shadowy world
with the brilliance
of your inner being
it breaks my heart...this existence
so badly beating your burnished shine

YES,
today is more than
just "another day";
calendar wise this is true;
BUT
relationship wise it's not true.
Today is the only day
I can think of you, yesterday
is gone and tomorrow isn't now.
YES,
today I can remember your
beauty, kisses, and the ways
my emotions respond when
I see and touch you.
TODAY
is the only now time I (we)
have to laugh, explore, and
share the magic of our love and
respect for each other.

today is our time to make
