IN THE MIDSUMMER HEAT

In the midsummer heat
our blues are in retreat.
Joie de vivre in the street,
the disco pounds its beat.

Dresses are less discreet;
bare legs and sandalled feet
roving eyes' gazes meet.
The flirtatious greet.

Author's Note
Strange to write this on way to midwinter; to explain this is a refinement of a poem I had written ages ago but rediscovered when a piece of paper turned up while decluttering yesterday. This lookback captures how high summer gets people out-going in more than one sense.
