Winter Poems
#winter
Winter poems about the coldest season of the year, December to February in the northern hemisphere and June to August in the southern hemisphere. Winter brings short dark days and stillness, as nature sleeps. Here you'll find poems about the beauty of the winter months, and also poems about dealing with cold and challenging weather.
Poem #2: January '23 (The End)
Solar rays return
Soulful haze, music plays
The day adjourns
Branches weave about
Nests rest in the cross sections
Careful, yet dangerous
Nine, natural days left
Lose track of time
Meticulous rhythms set
A ball of rubber bands, stretch to unwind
Soulful haze, music plays
The day adjourns
Branches weave about
Nests rest in the cross sections
Careful, yet dangerous
Nine, natural days left
Lose track of time
Meticulous rhythms set
A ball of rubber bands, stretch to unwind

Haiku - A Winter Blast
a harsh, bitter wind
blows across a frozen field,
a rabbit shivers.
blows across a frozen field,
a rabbit shivers.

Dear Summer,
how quickly you ran ahead of me
long legs so beautifully kissed by the sun racing through fields of flowers
warm grass in all shades of emerald
cool rocky rivers
beckoning bare feet to wade
glowing in the hot sun
her dress drenched
in summers perfume
door ajar
autumn came almost overnight
blowing cold breezes
through the eves
whistling around corners
encouraging the need
for soft warm comfort
fire is sparked
in a glowing chimney
black charred with age ...

Winterize
How then to prepare myself
for these cold days ahead
not succumb to the dread
of a long winter reign
As I feel the deep thrill
of an icy winter chill
remind me...
of the price of solitude
Time spent now away
from any long summer day
is a time to reflect
a time to refract
Allow me to again exact
all that I learn
watch the candle then burn
yielding like its melting wax
While I once again begin
repenting every sin
always remembering the goal
of this season of the soul
for these cold days ahead
not succumb to the dread
of a long winter reign
As I feel the deep thrill
of an icy winter chill
remind me...
of the price of solitude

The Hypothermic Heart at 6 am
weary are the willows which
have been forgotten by trellis of ice
ambulances of snow-laked slate roof
bandage desires to guttering flames of a red dress
lonely is, suddenly, the surname bequeathed to
my world from a window closed to human touch
stained glass (he)art reflects mausoleum of unsent letters
memoirs are worth the snow of wordless paper sheets
luminescent air splinters iron and the icy sea
mist seduces the shore line, trawled snow-dust allows
virgin footprints to become the first blunt pen...

Soulful Season
Winter is a time to splinter
all of these mad ideas
all of these sad feelings
drifting out ahead
let them then blow
Just a midwinter snow
to mollify my way
some time with my self
just me here alone
as I now try to postpone
The cold inevitableness
of this thinly cracking ice
all of these mad ideas
all of these sad feelings
drifting out ahead
let them then blow
Just a midwinter snow
to mollify my way
some time with my self
just me here alone
as I now try to postpone
The cold inevitableness
of this thinly cracking ice

Season of the Soul
There is a bare truth in winter
as even pine trees splinter
under the great weight
of pure honest snow
When now I yearn to hide
turning myself inside
allowing me time
to delve down deep
Within these worldly histories
those vexing mysteries
are finally fair game
for this questioning mind
Spending my sweet solitude
in a most pensive mood
I face the pallid paper
bleed out my truest ink
Filling up each blank page
with...

Sunny, Sunny Days
winter sunny days
lovely sunny, sunny days
and fleecy lambs graze
high mountain in blue haze
and shepherds laid back, they laze
in winter the sun shines
on the green forest of pines
and when the weather is fine
then, all the joys are mine
winter has own smiles
the warm spells in cold whiles
and the muse then beguiles
to verse, in the vernal styles
mild is the air, Sol is bright
a face sending peace and light
with tender feelings and might
there are no worries within sight
carpe diem,...

Season of the Soul
Winter...
its razor winds wind
cut through all they find
liberating truth
Seizing the cold day
to again drive me away
from the loud crowd
the wandering throng
For in quietude I belong
such a sweet solitude
this namesake place
that I now again face
The season of the soul
is such an icy knoll
where the frost reflects
all that lies inside
So smooth is the ice
still worth any price
for all this clarity
all of...

Where Poesy Resides.
Oh! how the view is seizing !!
When the sun is rising
And the Earth is praising
The Beauty of the lord
When Summer is blazing
And the heat is dazing
Cheerful cicadas sizzling
Arpeggios tunes on the cord
Flat meadows where lazing
Herds and cattles grazing
Sheperds never stressing
Keeping zen eyes on the herds
And then comes Autumn
Acid and sour like lemon
Bearing a languid boredom
A dirge sung post motem
Time for a walsing butterfly
Like a happy flower passing by
The emerald...
