hey,
happy birthday by the way
do you remember icarus and your texts about him?
how you must‘ve felt…
how it must’ve hurt…
today, i look at you
only to realize
that you won’t ever get how bad it hurt
how bad you hurt me
that you‘re my sun
and i am icarus
and i fell
and fell
and fell.
so i fell in love with the moon
happy birthday by the way
do you remember icarus and your texts about him?
how you must‘ve felt…
how it must’ve hurt…
today, i look at you
only to realize
that you won’t ever get how bad it hurt
how bad you hurt me
that you‘re my sun
and i am icarus
and i fell
and fell
and fell.
so i fell in love with the moon

directionally challenged
The window darkens and lightens as
The clouds wander across the sun
I look in the mirror
And trace the green breathless veins
Across my chest, angel wings
I look to the side
See you smiling in my mind
Barely there, some things aren’t tangible
The mist clings to my clothing
You told me not to go
But I hate listening to myself
The clouds wander across the sun
I look in the mirror
And trace the green breathless veins
Across my chest, angel wings
I look to the side
See you smiling in my mind
Barely there, some things aren’t tangible
The mist clings to my clothing
You told me not to go
But I hate listening to myself

Marking Rhyme
So near her fullest grand spanning power
Was the flower zenith moon of May
Trying like hell to be as bright as day
Around about the midnight hour
When she threw a shadow on the dial
Meant to track the hours of the sun
When solar power dazzles everyone,
In Diurnality worthwhile,
Best exemplified by unhampered rays
On which those garden dials rely
To indicate time flying by
From sunny days to lunar phase...
But only when the skies are clear
Will all the telltale shades appear!

SUN PRAYER
oh, bright
and mighty king,
earth's holy star
risen from blessed sleep
to bring this warm day
and all days
and all seasons
celestial wonder
lighting cathedral dome
of bluest sky
and feeding all that lives
on this green earth,
ancient fire,
dazzling orb
and warm respite
for weak and strong
and good and evil
of all the ages --
bless this good day
with your bright
countenance,
this i pray
from deepest heart
amen
and mighty king,
earth's holy star
risen from blessed sleep
to bring this warm day
and all days
and all seasons

and feeding all that lives

the sun
the Searchlight of God’s Presence
planet, comet, asteroid
and orbiting moons
around you sing tunes
for none can your pull avoid
centre of the solar world
your heat and your light
arrest us from plight
though by distance we are hurled
deep into the arms of space.
your helium rings
essential life brings
to sustain the human race
arbiter of day and night
let no one conspire
to play with your fire
till we're clothed in Heavenly Light

Warmth
Celestial glow;
illuminating warmth.
Cover me with your light.
Bathe my skin
with your radiance
and my soul
with your fire.
Awake in me
dormant desires
and slumbering senses.
Reignite my will
and renew my strength.
Energy-giving heat,
heal my heart
and expand my mind.
As I wait,
let your honeyed beams
permeate my very being.
Soften any rough edges
and purify me.
Cover me;
bring me into you
that warmth and light
might exude from me.

Solar Ode - NaPoWriMo2023 #9
Oh how I have missed the wonderful Sun,
that shines above
and around
that shines above
and warms all around
and you and me
and for all to see.
The joy within my heart
for the Sun and shine has returned
with elation at the sensation
as if Beethoven's 'Pastoral'
is merrily plucking at my heart strings.
What more can I say?
For I embrace the day
for the Sun has returned
and Spring truly feels to have sprung,
that oh so wonderful Sun.
that shines above
and around
that shines above
and warms all around
and you and me
and for all to see.
The joy within my heart
for the Sun and shine has returned
with elation at the sensation
as if Beethoven's 'Pastoral'

What more can I say?
For I embrace the day
for the Sun has returned
and Spring truly feels to have sprung,
that oh so wonderful Sun.

It’s quiet.
I mean, so quiet. So quiet you hear yourself think and you get lost in conversation with yourself. So quiet the second you hear anything you jump. But you don’t hear anything. The sun beats down silently, the lake is cool and flat as a mirror. I turn to my other side, laid up on a thick picnic blanket, red and white, on the low hill next to the house. A little house, brick, built before the town came. Before the road was there, before all the activity and movement. And away from the road you feel alone. Not in a bad way. Just alone. Alone and you know it’s only you in...

The Sun
I am the sun, I energize your day.
I speak expressly to the humid air;
'dry up for a day that is bright and fair.'
I command moisture to dry the lush hay
for non-ruminants to be well nourished.
I am ageless, and I am distinguished.
My golden rays have living things enriched,
my yellow rays induce the labourer's sleep,
having toiled so hard for his family's upkeep.
The flower smiles at my usual advances,
and with her fixed gaze, she makes no glances.
My loving rays speak with no utterances.
The day flourishes with my assistance,...

Yearning
Sunshine on my face,
Dying coals in my heart.
I have found myself longing
In a way I have never felt.
Dying coals in my heart.
I have found myself longing
In a way I have never felt.

Jason Looked Out The Window
Jason
looked out the
window.
He saw Heather lay
naked on the deck
this summer season.
That made
Jason turn
and smile.
