Summer Poems
#summer
Summer poems about the warmest season of the year, June to August in the northern hemisphere and December to February in the southern hemisphere. Summer brings the longest days, where things heat up with summer fun, and nature is in full bloom.
Artemis Beckons
I heard the children of the night
in coyote lunar tribute
under the stars that love to shoot
final salutes on their last flight.
And geese as well cried through the beams
that lit the skies wherein they flew
which by my soul were midnight blue
just as they are in all my dreams.
But truth be told the crickets were
the ones who owned the skies the most
and probably from coast to coast
in concert insect crazy stir...
to soothe the feral human heart,
far more... than sapience...

She's No Longer An Ugly Duckling
It
was on
a Sunday
afternoon that
Holden spotted on
the beach and wearing a
red bikini the former
shy bookworm Eunice who looked like
she had gone through a transformation
while visiting an aunt in Malibu.

Go Ahead, Master. Do It To Me Now.
While
the rest
of the gang
kept on having
fun at the pool, Josh
went down to the basement
and saw Karen naked and
strapped to some wooden thing. After
he looked around and saw no one else,
Josh stripped and began humping with Karen.

As full and as bright as her bumper crops,
she rose, like suitors by an arbor rung,
and higher than notes by falsetto sung...
in right ascension... right past the treetops
to sail through her meridian space
over the stratojet and shooting star
or any aviation objet d'art
at a sonic or supersonic pace.
Only wind chimes and crickets orchestrate
to score her silent orbit far above
our fair medium of earshot love
where daybreak birdsong is the morning fate
of the Harvest moon and all of her beams... ...

Summer Countryside
Summer Countryside
Once alive yet never dead
Children’s spring summertime laughter echoes
In the air and skies overhead
Omnipresent love
Sunshine and breezes
Soft as doves
Morning light
Shining thru windows
Upon meadows warmth
Radiating from above
Flowers in bloom
Fields turning green and brown
Playgrounds full of joy
Till the rise of the new harvest moon
II.
Ghostly sounds echo in the cities
Suburbs and towns
The wind sweeps and howls
To the outskirts ...

Summer's Almost Over
Summer's almost over
I feel like running backwards into it
The nights are getting cooler
Almost sane
People are walking the streets with a weary step
Three weeks ago they were running to the liquor store or running from the police
You would also hear people in their bedrooms fucking or fighting
Now the boss isn't such a bastard
School just started
My wild dreams send me back to sleep
The suicide rate will go down
Marriage & death rate too
It's winding down my friend
I can still hear the echoes of the sun
The screams...

Never Thought I Would See You Again
Zachary
walks out to the beach and
sees his old roommate from Cleveland State
University Danica laying naked
on the sand before she lifts up her
mirrored sunglasses and
smiles at him.

Visions Of September
It is the Autumn, of your eyes
I see them clear, I know them wise...
On Spring's green hill, we danced amongst pine
sprouting up and about, in pure sunshine
We spun our arms, we held on fast
impatient feet slipping, on dew-dipped grass
We fell together, two lovers too young
to love anything more, than having fun
We chewed on weeds and stared at the sky
layed amongst creatures too small to try
To see for themselves what all we've seen
a sun that wakens us, to the awe of Spring
...

After He Stepped Out Of The Cabin
Rick stepped outside and
glanced at the sunset before
he suddenly heard a splash.
Then, he saw Maggie
taking a swim before she
dried off and went back inside.

Along dusty shade I float, squinting
Bright rays set a stage where my shadows play
dark thoughts on a sunny day
Spotlights see my pale weigh
Long clear nights watch me fade away
stuck inside
Dark, grey skies see my bit of shine
Puddles reflect my brave
oughta be pitied spine
I'm often
seen slumping through the rain
wishing for what ain't mine
My brain ain't fine, train ain't flying
Tracks don't lay, my plane is dying
in a station delayed for time
for infinity
Sin...

cool
summer was cooler this year,
and I don’t mean that in
a kid’s way of talking, but it wasn’t
particularly warm

The Sound of Silence
It does not begin,
it does not end.
Never hear it start,
never hear it stop.
Ceaseless, present
at every moment.
This inner sound -
an object of sense.
With willpower we dominate,
breathing at our will.
Where we are subordinate
to the sound of silence.
An entity you cannot dominate,
but harness. No beginning,
no end, just present.
Our focus leading inwards.
it does not end.
Never hear it start,
never hear it stop.
Ceaseless, present
at every moment.
