Sunday morning begins bright and early. The woman I love lying next to me already awake.
I gaze at her soft skin and smile. I wonder how a woman so beautiful could ever be mine.
When she opens her eyes, I kiss her soft-spoken lips, and tell her she's perfect.
But this week 'perfect' means something else...something that hundreds will have seen, though merely a select few will ever know...
This week is unlike but a few weeks a year....

This is it. The moment and night my Champion and I have been waiting for. Her music hits and she begins the long walk out to take her throne in the middle of a Muay Thai boxing ring. This time there is something different about the way my Champion performs her pre-fight ritual…every punch of the turnbuckle is just a little more hesitant. I ever so reluctantly allow myself to slowly accept the fact that my Champion may lose her title tonight. I know she’s ready…she’s been training for this night for two hundred and forty-three days. Ever since her last fight with the same amazing female...

No Longer Unbeaten 2: The Rebuild *full series re-post*
I don’t want it…it’s not mine…she’s the real Champion…I am no longer unbeaten…I lost that fight…I LOST THAT FIGHT”
The words from six months ago still ring in my ears as I watch her stretch out in a dark corner of the gym. There is no denying my Champion’s amazing athletic ability as she begins lightly shadowboxing to loosen up. I watch her as she methodically and purposefully starts to wrap her wrists, snapping each strand of the elastic cloth down over her hands. I smile as I watch her get ready because this is the girl I know and love…THIS is my Champion! Her determination...

I watch her smiling as she bounces up and down and stomps her feet, first the right then the left as she slams her gloves together. Then falls to her knees in silent prayer. When she is done a chill rush down my spine from the fire in her eyes, she is ready… ready to unleash hell inside a kickboxing ring. I present her with her National Championship title belt, the one she’s held for eighteen months and valiantly defended five times without ever seeing the final bell.
