Drowning Out
I fall asleep to the noise of a fan
every night
always
it helps quiet
loud thoughts
I don't want to hear
What I really need
Is a bedroom
with an open window
right next to
Niagara Falls
every night
always
it helps quiet
loud thoughts
I don't want to hear
What I really need
Is a bedroom
with an open window
right next to
Niagara Falls

Judased
It’s 4 am
I’m full awake
my body Judased
into rising
from my bed
un-purposed to my day
prospected with
long dark-edged hours.
Outside, bird song,
cheery and alive
rings noisily
to mock me.

my body Judased
into rising
from my bed
un-purposed to my day
prospected with

Outside, bird song,
cheery and alive
rings noisily

Lying In Bed
Sleep chasing
Mind racing
Thought pacing
Blame placing
Guilt embracing
Hope erasing
Self effacing

Late Nights
The rising chill of the morning,
I feel cold sunlight shining through my window.
I stumble in the still too dark hallway,
Crashing noisily into the bathroom.
I flick the light switch on,
And a sickly yellow fluorescent light fills the room.
I look in the mirror,
My eyes are dark and deep.
The worst part of late nights,
Are early mornings.
I feel cold sunlight shining through my window.
I stumble in the still too dark hallway,
Crashing noisily into the bathroom.
I flick the light switch on,
And a sickly yellow fluorescent light fills the room.
I look in the mirror,
My eyes are dark and deep.
The worst part of late nights,
Are early mornings.

the first death
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no
more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore,
for the former things have passed away.”―Revelation 21:4
the first death is the grave,
a timeless sleep
from which no tears can save,
though many weep;
fed to the cold, dark earth,
soma interred,
all fret and spite and mirth
and cares deferred.
the dead dreads not the night
nor craves the day;
nor do strange wings take flight
and soar away
to heaven or to...

Three am heart
What I want
most will never
happen through
this time on earth
but as I close my
eyes drifting away,
it's almost feels
like i'm close
enough.

Rest
I crawl in
To bed,
Turn on my back,
And listen
A moment
For her gentle breath;
We lay
Like two-by-fours
In a truck bed;
I draw a breath:
‘I love you’
Her arm reaches
And consoles my
Uncertainty:
‘I love you.’
And she falls asleep,
Her cheek heavy
Against my rising chest.
To bed,
Turn on my back,
And listen
A moment
For her gentle breath;
We lay
Like two-by-fours
In a truck bed;
I draw a breath:
‘I love you’
Her arm reaches
And consoles my
Uncertainty:
‘I love you.’
And she falls asleep,
Her cheek heavy
Against my rising chest.

dream (in color)
i want
to dream
in color
not just
in black
and white
turning
my dreams
dull gray
i want
the colors
of bright
flowers
to invade
my dreams.

requiem
The night has a thousand eyes, and the day but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies with the dying sun.”
—Francis William Bourdillon
blushing eve sun stoops down
behind day’s hedge
to keep, too weary grown,
his solemn pledge
to populate the world
with fragrant light;
man and his beast are hurled,
thus, into night.
day-roses yield their eyes
to slumbersongs,
nocturnal lullabies
their sleep sarongs;
high-mountain rivers keep
their vigilance,
a never-ending leap
swept...
Yet the light of the bright world dies with the dying sun.”

Tired
And I be tired, I'll be tired,
I'll be tired, I'll be tired
But I'll be quiet, I'll be quiet,
I'll be me
And no matter how dirty the water I find,
When I rinse my hands
they'll come clean
I'll be tired, I'll be tired
But I'll be quiet, I'll be quiet,
I'll be me
And no matter how dirty the water I find,
When I rinse my hands
they'll come clean
