The NO! machine malfunction
Eeny meenie miney moe,
my day is flying – watch it go!
The to-do list is like a rope
around my neck – there is no hope…
…that I can get out of this heap
when every task is layers deep
and messages won’t quit – BEEP BEEP!
and people keep on asking me…
…to do the things I promised them.
What was I thinking way back then??
My stupid optimistic mind
has bit me in my own behind!
There’s only one thing this could mean --
I have to fix my NO! machine.
my day is flying – watch it go!

Sleepy Sunday
I dreamt upon a Sunday morn
to sleep in without interruption
I wanted a cosy snuggle treat
the luxury sleep soft and sweet
"Feed us now!" Cats loudly cry,
the starving hordes from everywhere
just cross annoying felines
I turned over hands over ears
The dogs scratching at the door
their barks and whines loud and clear
wake up wake up wake up
incessant call for bowl and feed
I groaned out of bed
My pillow calling, "Rest your head!"
there's a chorus of No No No
feed us now now now ...

it's not a prison, but you'd be forgiven for mistaking it as one
Places like this
aren't made for honest people
if you were honest when you got here
you won't be honest
by the time you leave
I don't know a single person
who hasn't broken the rules
myself included
I've broken three today already
and I'll break two more
before the day is out
Because freedom comes at a price
and it's hard enough to be here
that getting a gold star for compliance
isn't on anyones agenda
though my file would make you think
I'm the kind of person
that can walk that...

An Odyssey
A fiery necklace of jade stretches down her throat during their goodbye kiss. When he boards the gangplank the beads sink into her navel where they ignite. She says, “If you come back maimed I will take care of you. If what you saw haunts you, I’ll exorcise your demons with my touch. If you return to me as a corpse I will keep fresh roses on your grave. But please give Agamemnon this note I wrote for you that you are married to a woman who will surely perish of heartbreak if you come home in a casket.”

Inspiration Requiem
It is amazing
how long an eclipse
can seem
to churn on.....
and yet
these vapid
and nullifying
instances
are their own source
of inspiration.
There is
a humble nobility
in painting
that waning

as we fall
off a roof....

Time Divided
5 days on,
2 days off
alternating
every other week
Split custody
isn't the easiest,
but I would never complain
That bond is the most integral
and I divide my life
based on those responsibilities
It is always strange
once I return to the quiet of house
once again,
there is a fusion of sadness
and relief
And sometimes the best tonic
once I am alone again
is a healthy escape
into those imaginative worlds
engaging in those devious thoughts
of bodies and release
