I see an American flag
and I cringe
An Israeli flag
and I cringe
A British flag
and I cringe
An Australian flag
and I cringe
A Hezbollah, Hamas, Russian flag.
What's the bloody difference.
Flags assist and exist in keeping us all seperate.To reinforce a uniqueness when in fact there are none.Arbitray borders, placed on a map by the powerful,the vengeful,the greedy define nations and the people who live there in.

I AM STILL LEARNING
DISCOVERY
I use to think
I knew it all until
someone asked
me a question.
When I swaggered down
the steps of the university
with my BA in my hand,
the world said, "Sit down
and I'll teach you the
rest of the alphabet."
WAKE-UP
It has been a wonderful
journey since the day
I realized how wonderful
it is to be a continual
learner in the never
ending School of Life.
I'm still learning to live
every day admiring the
beauty in the garden
of life where I have been...

Uncle Scam
All he did was make lots of threats
and still he got the votes
from white folks with bajillion frets
stoked by kazillion gloats.
They were the smash mouth runagates
who mostly had it good,
except for all their mental states;
as brittle as dead wood...
where moral muscle had been found,
perhaps when they were six,
but now their morals are unsound
all due to MAGA tricks.
The kind that turns a decent kid
into a raging troll,
like the kind who flips his lid...
when Bishops show some soul.
and still he got the votes

No dump last night
Pretty baby had to go
Hit the street running
Past the fruit stand
Quick good morning to Kamal
Say it again on the way back

Taking responsibility for our own actions
Is a commitment to self-discipline and accountability
It’s empowering
Whereas the victim mentality is a reactionary view
When looking for pity
Just because life can be hard sometimes…
Outside factors don’t care what we want
What we think
What we say
But remember our happiness lies within
In our own state of mind
And what matters most
is how we respond
The choices we make define us
We can choose to be weak
and blame everyone else for shortcomings ...

I stood condemned for choosing sanity over family
nevertheless I stood my ground
doing what's best for me

guilt-laden barbs

feeling sorry for yourself

Hopscotch Lines
A long haired girl
with a light blue dress
jumps across hopscotch'd lines.
Every bound blinds me
as I lose her, in the sky
Then, clouds ground her
Grey turns the day
As upon the tin roof
begin the taps
of the drumming rain
With that steady beat
we dance upon the concrete porch
With seven colors of chalk
strewn across its slate.
I marvel, at how
little girls build their worlds
in primarily bright shades
Seven sides then, to this day
Born into a rainy life

Weeding The Fools
Just me and my muse, at play in a field
of wishful thinking, so I sow my own seeds
and reap the sweetness of my family.
You don't know me, a well-worn pen,
assuming me wrong, in blind eyesight.
But that's the way I am wary, not a fool.
Sarcastically, my feet touch the ground
skipping my own rope. Listening to nature
with my mind awake. Knowing the echoes
are only memories of my soul's awakening
with nature. Not braying the horn of a dethroned
jackass. I snap my own black eyes peas.
