Positively Preposterous
Today, I will start
Something new
It will be fresh
And original
Like no other project
Anywhere or anytime
As soon as I get
My nose out of this book
It could be fantastical
Or full of raw reality
There's no way
Of knowing
If it will fly
But I will try to do it
Giving it my best
Only thing is I can't get
My nose out of this book
Something new
It will be fresh
And original
Like no other project
Anywhere or anytime
As soon as I get
My nose out of this book
It could be fantastical
Or full of raw reality
There's no way

Only thing is I can't get

Printed Matter
Wading through 6 months of New Yorker Mags
Awhile back I said I would read them
Of course I kept looking at the pile
Not reading just seeing the pile grow higher
I’m reading them now
2 to 3 articles per issue
The writing is good
The articles are long
There’s something beautifully old school
The physical object
Gives me pleasure, almost cosmic
Words with weight waiting in silence

Soleils couchants
I heard this poem in a foreign tongue,
And instantly fell in love with the sound,
I memorized the verse like it was a song,
Proud of the ability I had found.
I struggle with the pronunciation,
My homely diction may not be the best,
Yet the poem gives me a fascination,
Because I like to recite it to myself.
I began to discover other works and text,
And pursued more of this foreign tongue,
Now I’m fixated on these silhouettes,
Like an old romantic who is feeling young.
Maybe it’s because it’s all so picturesque, ...

Your Poem made me Cry
the blood from your broken heart
ink to the poem of lost love
your heartache tattooed in verses
sent dusts into my eyes
lost in time etched in memories
of a love that once embraced
your spirit, your soul, your mortality
only for him to leave
before you kissed the dawn
My tears fell for your pain
for your memories that ended
with a rose on a grave stone
and you stepping back alone
you are strong, indeed stronger
the pain like a forge to your spirit
screaming and crying to God
"Why did you...

Give me something to look forward to
namely, Poetry
reverence and romance it;
take your time—
it’s not a magazine of bullets
diving from an AK-47;
or, a lonely one-nightly-stand
worthy of flippant responses
More importantly
wash its face—
comb its hair, brush its teeth
dress it appropriately;
don’t serve it half-baked—
give me poetry
worthy of reading

Brand New Illiteracy
With no more reverence for script
we are like the Eloi now
amid old books which won't endow
aloof cerebra ill equipped
to see the future much improved
from Anthropocentric shambles
and apocalyptic brambles
no lords of order have approved
for any Eden garden plot
on this or any other Earth,
steadfast for merriment and mirth
and by no petrodollar bought.
Come what may...we must ever read
if from that doom we would be freed.

How Poetry ate my day.
It started with just a few breadcrumbs
Tasty morsels that led me tentatively out the door
just a little farther….
looking back nervously at my Task List
Just one more taste
and then I’ll go back
He pulled up all smiles and sweetness
saying here’s a Special Something I just know you’ll like...
But – All the Things – what about the Things I’m supposed to do?
I’ll serve you just what you need to get started, he said
I’ll have you back in a jiffy, he said
and with a glance over my shoulder at Responsibility
I said Ok,...

Idibera
Dawns the Autumn.
A Poem opens itself.
Some wings spread.
Flowers blooming
everywhere.
Eyes wide close.
Eyes of wide read.
Open, doors, letters.
Secret Diaries revealed.
Scars still beating.
Signs, gods, runes.
Above the waters
arrises the mist.
Days and waves
keep on building
its Cathedrals.
Sleeps
in my hand
a non-important
poem
an unknown name
carved in a stone.
Idibera is a name
for the thunderbolt

there’s something still to do
like to keep a book
by the bed
I wish to read, although
maybe
not
yet
I think
I’ll continue to live
whilst I have something
still to do

Why I read

3am confessions of an inexhaustible mind
It's late.
Too many mental tabs are open.
The CPU runs at 100%;
the clock is being ignored.
I need to finish this book,
and a bunch of articles.
Oh, and all the word games!
Wait... did I pack P.E. kits?
Where is the music coming from?!
Struck by inspiration,
I seize a scrap of paper -
an old envelope - and feverishly scrawl.
Now... where was I?
This video is hilarious:
I must send it to my kids!
There's another song on repeat
as I text my friend
who is also awake,
