THE HITMAN
I.
"It all ended with a hush, and tears
A silent confession as I cupped his ears
Then life continued with a quickening pace
And a part of me has never left that place
His image persists as I leave with her
A solemn abnegation to which I swore
His image persists as she confides in me
Choked the pain inside that she'll never see
A plethora of faces
Past the barrel of a gun
But of pareidolia
There was only one
I could weep of unfairness
I could scream at the sky
But protecting her...
