Secrets - The Visit To Craig's Family
First weekend.
Sunday. Pack sandwiches and a flask of coffee. Walk along an old railway trail with overgrown vegetation both sides. Cross a suspension bridge. Take photographs. Have lunch in a family friendly country pub. Stop off for refreshments before setting off for home.
Robert isn't used to the north; he's an Islington boy with an American mother and a mixture of accents, but I want him to get a taste of his roots.
Tonight, after supper, we'll create photo collages and upload them to the server, and we'll choose a special name for the...

Secrets - Robert And Gordon
Later, I check on Robert. He's sleeping in his room. 'Night, buddy,' I whisper, adjusting the brown teddy bear so it won't fall.
It is quiet, far too quiet for me. The static stillness of the country gives the impression of time slowing down, stopping altogether. I find a beer in the fridge, sit on the sofa bed and drink. So much for good intentions. Fitness, diet. I don't want to go to sleep. Sleep frightens me, has done ever since Vince Macarthur brought his crowbar down on my head, screaming his innocence again and again. My recovery from the attack took several years....

Retrogenesis
She taught me not to fear death
It’s just part of living
Now every time that I go and visit her
My soul hurts and heart sinks
She’s waiting to cross that bridge
Gone are the stories she used to tell
As far back as 1936
All the great details she could recall
Are now but soft flashbacks of mystery
I kiss her cheeks and forehead
Her smile and childlike eyes know who I am
The skin on her hands is paper thin
Soft and warm under blankets
Fighting the impending cold and darkness
An internal silent battle is raging ...

Secrets - Back to Lancashire (3)
After a cup of tea in Mel's flat, I return for the rest of the luggage, grab the remaining bags from the boot of my car and use the electronic keypad to get back in The Factory. Once inside, I drag my belongings to the lift at the side of the building and ride up to the top storey, watching each floor disappear through the door panel. Mel's flat faces mine across the drop. I don't like heights, though. Never have done. The surrounding valley looks tiny from the drop.
Mel's laughter floats across the top floor of the building. She has a one bedroom apartment with a tiny kitchenette...

The Women Before Me - Journal entry
October 6, 2024
My daughter is away in the care of her father. I couldn't sleep last night and started thinking about the women who’ve come before me, those whose blood courses through my veins, and whose stories are etched into my life.
Great-grandmother Norma Jean Moore, a woman of the '40s, lived through a time of profound change. Born into the echoes of the Great Depression, she was a child when the world was at war. I often wonder about her passions, hidden beneath the surface of a society that demanded so much resilience. What was it like to fall in love...

I’m ashamed to be called your daughter
I’m ashamed to be called your daughter,
a title that feels like a weight I can't shake,
in a world where your love was a distant whisper,
and I was left shattered, my heart forced to break.
I’m ashamed to be called your daughter,
when your smile felt cold, a mask that you wore,
every moment I craved, just a flicker of warmth,
but I found only shadows, and I longed for so much more.
I’m ashamed to be called your daughter,
as I stood in your light, always waiting in vain,
fighting for scraps of affection, like a...

Life Lesson 6 (Uk) Defiance runs in the blood
Before the term road rage became common use, I'm pretty sure that my cousin, who was driving us back to the house, was exhibiting all the classic signs.
Not only was she speeding and diving in and out of traffic in her white Ford Granada car, but she was also letting out some colorful curse words, and I even had to turn my head and stare at her, wondering what was going through her mind.
We managed to return to the house in one piece to be greeted by the rest of the family. You would think that being born and raised in the United States, I would not...

Life Lessons 5 Another summer in the UK
The year was 1989
This was summer when I was sixteen, and my mother wanted a break from caring for me and my sister.
The word "taking care" is held very loosely. She wanted to get some distance between me and my twenty-year-old boyfriend.
She liked him until she read a page in my diary stating the sed boyfriend was my first. I do not know how you all would feel about your privacy being invaded, but that particular issue was blown to a proportion that you would think that I killed someone.
She bought three tickets to London, and off we...

Gino & Poppy
It was the early 2010s, another pissed up night at the boozer.
A young Gino Corona was spending all of his dosh, like a loser!
He had long hair in a bun and a wife-beater to show his guns.
Flossing a big chunky chain on his neck to show his funds.
His wife and his kid at home would wonder where he might be?
Either way she knew, he would be pissed up, somewhere out of his tree.
In the gritty town of Swansea, it was raw, rough, and ready.
They lived in a grotty flat in the moody streets of Sketty.

THIS ISN'T ABOUT ME
About what I have been going through since 2021 with different stages of cancers prostate cancer and kidney function and tumors and lung cancer 🙏 This isn't really about me it's about you 🤔 YET my real question to you is WHO DO YOU TURN TOO, when you are lost and confuse and afraid. AS you sit alone within the very confinement of your four walls 🧱 that you call home 🏡, as it is there where you can find yourself in peace with tranquility. For the betterment of your life for it is necessary, to be able to understand, that no day. WILL never be the same...

STRENGTH COMES FROM WITHIN
They say that GOD, gives you no more than we can stand as he gives to his most, strongest soldiers no more than they can stand and tolerate. THE deepness of the pain that one has to learn, to deal with going through the chemotherapy. Yet the fact it goes to the deepness of the damage, that somehow slowly begins to rip into the skin of your flesh. As it attacks you mentally emotionally and physically and spiritually. For I say all this to say this 🙏 for all purpose it's important that we take better care of our health, and to get tested for CANCER. AS well for one will never know what...
