Harvest Feast
In the hearts and minds of men
The lasting memories of time well spent
The harvest has been gathered
Soon all shall feast once more again
The lasting memories of time well spent
The harvest has been gathered
Soon all shall feast once more again

Of Leaves and Other Debris
Along the path of amber hue
Where leaves like whispers fall
The trees stand bare against the blue
So stark, so still, so tall
The air hangs thick with earthy scents
As shadows start to creep
The brittle ground, where branches bent
Lies bound in autumn’s sleep
The rustling leaves, a mournful sound
Lie scattered, torn, and shed
Their colors bright, now fallen down
A carpet for the dead
In quiet steps, I tread alone
Beneath the fading light
Where every tree and branch and stone

Desires Of The Hearth
Ice-capped twigs
Like frozen stick insects
Lay upon the ice encrusted earth
Amongst browning fallen autumn leaves
Collaged together underfoot
The air lay still
The sun dull, and listless
As each outward breath
Produced ice clouds
Like empty speech bubbles
I summon my dragon Lileth
We fly home
To the warmth of our cave

Nasturtiums in light snow
Cold bites to my bones, stings my skin, joking
that summer was ever warm.
Beneath an iron sky, stragglers, jovial party people
linger by the cold windy door.
The warmth of their orange and red rages,
but diminished, by a light snowfall blanket.
It weighs them down,
their hot summery heads drooping under early winter’s white weight.
No cabbage white or tortoiseshell will visit these roguish
summer remnants;
the first frost will finish them soon enough—
smiting their tender leaves and stems to...

Fall Comes Alive
My heart stirs
Like new life forming
Taking wing within my
Imagination
I see the countryside changing
Gold and red and silver
Flashing in the trees
As I go flashing by
Inside my own interpretation
Of Rushs' Red Barchetta
With the very same blasting
In my ears
Nothing chases me though
Save my hearts wild beating
Egging me on to greater heights
In my discovery of the new season
And though new life stirs in my heart
Outside life is winding down
Waiting for the wintry blasts
The covering snow so deep ...
Like new life forming
Taking wing within my
Imagination
I see the countryside changing

Hope I Don’t Fall Before Time Runs Out On Me
Hope I don’t fall before time runs out on me
Medicare problem of the elder society
Take a step and hope that you don’t fall
Down the steps of misery of being old
Brittle bones and grey hairs give up your charade of being young
Maybe some Metamucil will cure you
Or if it comes to it Brighto from 3 stooges
Will set you straight firm your constitution
But time keeps ticking looking to drop down the shade of us
My head feels young in me
Brain firing on all cylinders
Try and learn something new to keep
The synapses...

Not Autumn
The night air
Has lost its flair
It’s autumn
But it’s not awesome
The airs not cold
The sun is very bold in fact
The leaves have fallen
Yet it doesn’t feel like autumn
Has lost its flair
It’s autumn
But it’s not awesome
The airs not cold
The sun is very bold in fact
The leaves have fallen
Yet it doesn’t feel like autumn

Ease of Autumn
In Hills where the mist meets the gold of the trees
Lived a Bavarian lord, with a heart set at ease
The chill of the autumn had kissed the bright land
And the fruits of the season were ripe by his hand
His manor stood high, with its windows aglow
Scent of the harvest crept soft through the snow
The vineyards hung heavy, the apples were sweet
The fields rich with pumpkins lay under his feet
With a laugh in his throat and his stein raised high
He welcomed the dusk, under crisp autumn sky
His dunkel was poured, dark and full...

PURE HUMMING BIRD JOY (PURE HUMMING BIRD WAY) (11-24-2024, Palm Springs, California)
upon reopening my eyes
after only twenty five minutes
this morning
of my perfectly imperfect
as usual
sitting in stillness
zen meditation
where now here
in these first few moments
of my heart centered
peaceful
open being s
return
while serenely
looking back out
with all my senses
and heart
now more widely open
at this newly unfolding
beautifully flowing ...

Autumn dreams
Cool crisp breeze; caresses my face,
The leaves, the color of brown,
Golden brown eyes that stared into mine
A time left behind
A gentle smile
I wanted to stay for a while
I opened my eyes
There is no crisp breeze
For it was all a familiar dream
The leaves, the color of brown,
Golden brown eyes that stared into mine
A time left behind
A gentle smile
I wanted to stay for a while
I opened my eyes
There is no crisp breeze
For it was all a familiar dream
