she used to look at me like she hated me
...my mother's mother...
wanted to erase my existence from her reality
mom always said it was all in my head
...that I was just being too sensitive
{I got that a lot growing up...}
until one holiday when I was 15
that woman sent a box of presents
lovely wrapped packages for mom & my sister
...complete with shimmery bows & pretty labels
each of them receiving warm fluffy robes
{they even had big pockets!}
...& matching slippers for them both ...

Here I sit alone and broken
My owner is annoyed
Windows won't even open
I lay dormant here, stranded in a church parking lot
Jesus won't help me
The ignition clicks, the engine is shot
Maybe it's time to meet that junk pile in the sky
If I had wings, I'd surely learn how to fly
Inside I die.
A slow demise.
A stuttered stop.
My purpose was forgot.
My owners empathy is unwise.
My detriment is no surprise.
The church is an empty lot.
There's no god that I've got.
Just brutal sun skies.
Scrutinizing...

Let's Get Cynical, Cynical...Again
I despise people who are two-faced liars
They pretend to be something they’re not
They get mad when the truth is too hot handle
Then change the narrative when they get caught
I dislike individuals who are duplicitous
They smile but talk smack behind your back
Acting nice in one place but toxic in another
Their narrative is a bunch of poppycock
And if they get political
It’s cynical
They’re so hypocritical
It’s miserable
I don’t want to hear that gaudy talk
Nope, I don’t want to hear that bawdy talk ...

I feel like a revolutionist today, folks!
Armed & ready to fight prejudice -
With my words!
I had a dose of it last night.
Was told I was not welcome at a certain wine bar,
Situated here, near where I live.
Was told to watch my back -
Just because I'm English!
I only went along for the Karaoke...
Unfortunately,
The guy never saw the person behind the mask -
Never gave him a chance!
After all, I could've been the English guy,
Who fought to save his daughter's life,
The surgeon; instead, fighting...

Rain pouring down, my car broke down on side the road, what the fuck
And me with no cell phone or fucking tools, this is just my luck
This is a true test bitch of how you've lived your life
As you walk through that pouring rain and motorist watch you endure this strife

They're driving by and honking their horns like you don't even know them
Wasn't it earlier today at work that they were all smiling up in your face

He was like an object that sparkled
I love things that sparkle.
They attract me,
even if their light
is not their own.
Even when he was the light itself,
he kept going dark on me.
all too often
when I was shining the hardest.
He did it with subtle cruelty
Without warning.
And after one too many times,
the scintillating, electrified glitter
that enlivened my tomorrows
scattered away
turned...

I liked myself better
when I hated myself more
misery had a melody
self destruction had rhythm
now I’m fumblin thru life
like a virgin at an orgy
good intentions but awkward as fuck
my hands remember Rachmaninoff
but my brain has set fire
to the keys
sendin up smoke signals
to a god that stopped listenin
somewhere between genesis
and my one man show of self sabotage
they called me gifted
before my fingers learned to tremble
virtuoso playin tag with oblivion
composin chaos from memory ...

Bittered Sweet
As friends go, we were quiet lovers
just a once
Absolute darkness forced our fingers
to search for help;
Found our bodies.
Your hands were so cold
that I knew they were practicing
being blue, soon.
So black, though, in the room
You didn't see my eyes teared up
from the freezing
When I put your fingers
to my lips, and blew
all the warmth
that my chest could offer you.
I couldn't see you
not smiling
Knowing this wasn't enough
to thaw forty years
of wintered life.

My bed-room surrounds,
with wine bottles around
and the Pepsi that i mix,
I'm not a life full of bliss
3 Liters is barely enough
on my skin so ruggedly tough
I don't wish to be the one to hurt
This dragon even smoked
a child till she was burnt.
I hate this version in the mirror
a worse of all demeanor,

worth holding on to

lights just went out
darkness spreads
like a cancerous bout
