Shh.. Just Listen To The Sandstorm Of My Lineage’s Peace
I define my soft caress unto the gentle wind
Close my eyes, traveling to a land long before the creation of sin
I hear the hooves of chariots as man stand in Allah’s image
Oh, greatness of thou Pyramids, Pharaohs calling within another dimension
The Nile, I bathed the heritage of my melanin in the bosom of its depth
The Ankh, my amulet adorned proudly around my ancestor’s neck
I breathed the air, so laden of roses,...

Palimpsest
Echoes of old stone-
Blood, quills, the stars all entwine.
A child's voice ascends.

Sitting on a Tree (In Nippon)
Sittin on a tree (in Nippon)
Fungi glows green
High in a tree
In sweet Japan
Land of shogun
Backed by samurai in the
Island of emperors
Koi in the pond and
Porcelain kimonos
Kamikaze divine wind with
Kabuki dance and martial arts
Origami with Geisha girls
Green tea sushi sake’…don’t forget ramen
Naruto and Godzilla with Pokémon
Sumo hits a baseball
Manga chasing Anime
Kobe beef so tender and savory
Sapporo had Olympics and a beer museum

Babuska's sarmale
In a snowy Romanian village, during Christmas cheer,
my Babuska spun tales, both delightful and queer.
The tradition was sarmale, a savory delight,
Cabbage wrapped treasures, cooked all through the night.
Meat and rice nestled in leaves so green,
simmered in tomato, a feast so serene.
But woven in laughter and holiday charms
were Babuska’s stories with their quirky alarms:
"Behave well, dear children, lest you wish to be seen
in the pot with the sarmale, simmering and lean."
The children would giggle, eyes...

Reading Victorian ghost stories
Reading Victorian ghost stories
can sometimes leave you wondering,
when authors say that what she said
when haunting yonder glen
cannot be written down ‘til dead,
because it be wrought with unpleasantries
unfit for ears that need guiding.
But from the vantage point of “modern day”
I cannot really say if what D Dinglet said,
as Parson spoke to her (the upright Cornishman
misled, perhaps, by some prudish morality)
was truly horrible - that she was murdered, say,
or forced upon by him she claims wronged her.

1999, the birth of the modern hipster
The hipster of the 21st century are a subculture of people who are already dominant.
They are not your underdogs carving out a place to breathe freely.
The modern day hipster aligns himself or herself with rebel subculture and with the dominant class.
Thus, the rebel consumer, who rebels against nothing.
The artist who creates no art.
The hipsters who flooded Brooklyn and the entire Western World in the 2000's might look like Bohemians, but they are not.
They are not anti-authoritarian, like other youth subcultures through history. They drink the Kool-Aid...

Rising Sun
Feeling land of the rising sun
Mornings call me awake
Shake sleep out of me
Sun originates from here
Zu-pang to Nihon
Where the sun rises
Feel a zen when I’m feeling Nippon
Want to tattoo samurai
On my skin
Shogun in my veins
I’m swimming with koi fish
Want to lay on Tatami
Under moonlight
Meditate my pain away
When I think Japanese
I don’t need ancestry.com
To tell me I’m from Mt Fuji
One thing on my bucket list
Turn Japanese
From inside out
I...

Flags
I see an American flag
and I cringe
An Israeli flag
and I cringe
A British flag
and I cringe
An Australian flag
and I cringe
A Hezbollah, Hamas, Russian flag.
What's the bloody difference.
Flags assist and exist in keeping us all seperate. To reinforce a uniqueness when in fact there are none.Arbitray borders, placed on a map by the powerful, the vengeful, the greedy define nations and the people who live there in.
Burn the flags
Erase the borders
Allow human capital to move around the world as easily as money does. ...

After Math
The dust has settled
The vote is in
The Right has won
Left in the bin
What will happen
The next four years
Will appraised Right
Be Left in tears
We'll all find out
What will be

Or severe see

Suburbian Life in America
A normal Monday morning in America, circa 1960's
Mom's in the kitchen
Dad goes to work
Kid goes to school

Mom juggling three jobs
Dad's in jail

Mom suffers from PTSD and can't work
Dad is a full time college student and can't work

2024 November Poems >> the dreams of lady marguerite
No. 04
the dreams of lady marguerite
Tribute to Marguerite Curtin
Jamaican Historian, Publisher, and Friend
“If you don’t know history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf
that doesn’t know it is part of a tree.”—Michael Crichton
the love of trees, sophisticated hills,
soft-rippling streams, and fragrant daffodils
(among the thrills she calls her favourite)
ignites the dreams of lady marguerite.
echoes of windy nights under the moon,
shadows that lose their length at blistering noon,

I Wanna Be A…
I Wanna Be A…
So I’m just a rock star
Trying to get on the stage
Thunder from under the auditorium
Broken string that I play
I’m just getting started don’t tempt me
Sit in the audience and listen
Feel like I can be one of them
I can be almost as good as them
Good enough for me and then some
I can slay a dragon if you let me
I can be your demon if that’s what you want me to be
I can be a friar serving penance for the congregation
All I want to be is a rock star
I know this will not...
