Just outside Oklahoma.
Little state called arkansas.
Small towns its quiet I like it here.
For some reason I'm at a pause.
Staying in a rented cabin.
Avoiding people for the most.
Woman from broken bow keeps trying to talk.
I just vanish I'm good at being a ghost.
Learned some of people called Choctaw.
Something called a tear trail.
Lady made me a silve bear claw necklace.
I looked over what she has to sell.
Man at the walls mart tried to pick a fight.
I got out to see what he wanted and he ran.

Town of Dust and Bones
The street light buzzes day into night
yesterdays stench lingers in the summer air
wrinkles on my face from many days gone by
I say goodnight to Kelly Jo as she flips her sign to closed
Gailan holding onto the hope tomorrow may bring
no good answer for what comes next
still got fight left in us so we battle on
Theron gives me a wave and a smile
walk into Benny's he pours me a malbec
Rob at the end of the bar calls me a snob
raises his glass rings out an old Irish toast
the pet store closed so did the grain elevator
got a grant for...

CHO! (STFU)
Growing up,
I was never one to argue with grandma,
Then again I wasn't much of a smart ass,
But of the few times I ever gave her lip,
I quickly found out she didn’t take any sass.
The command that came from the little lady,
Was an unexpected and thunderous “CHO!”
It wasn’t Spanish or English, not even Chinese,
More like a coded shut the fuck up now and go!
My sisters and all my cousins also knew it,
At one time or another we felt the harsh blow,
It was like lightning fast reprimand not to argue,
When grandma got pissed off and yelled...

the jingle bells are all quiet
colored lights no longer flashing
clinging to rusted nails
watching winter and spring clashing
street walkers, neighbors
try not to point, heads shake
yet the urge to leave anonymous notes
culls the committed from half baked
still no matter the season
or what etiquette deems
joy bubbles like a fountain
in this cul-de-sac of dreams
Frosty a lone sentinel
half hidden by uncut St Augustine
the savior of forget-me-nots
defies manicured schemes
the once fresh cut pine wreath
lies...

Ambrosia Emotion
Early in the morning,
Early in the morning,
I had the thought
of sweet ambrosia.
Like a daily psalm
found in the Café Poem.
Tacked to a wall
where there was much
discussion on my mother.
An Easter morning long forgotten
and all that was poured in it.
The thought disappears into my sinew,
my sinew opens with the sweet aroma.
The aroma keeps burrow deep in my bones.
Early in the morning,
I had the thought

is every last conservative we know
hell for leather at the buy bull retreat
and the dog and pony deer hunter show
to study the latest mass murder kit
cuz deer and people weigh about the same
so bullets make the same ballistic hit
on legal or illegal human game...
about which they fantasize all day long,
when they're not bitching about Taylor Swift
and how woke she is with her latest song
where lyrics are too big for them to sift
like the ideation they should have learned
from all the schoolbooks...
