Hotel Tango
Equinox in a couple of days
finds me right back where I began
I 'm running laps to beat the band
as a professional wheel man
It's typically steady tonight
for an indian summer's eve
But during my Mary-go-rounds
there's this asshole I can't believe
The street, traffic and neon lights
have already replaced the sun
Of course the radio is broke
making all this that much more fun
And I'm braking laws like a fiend
getting from Point A to Point B
Texting and passing on the right
and my seat belt's loose - honestly

finds me right back where I began

This avenue is for the rich
And because i am a native resident
This town is only for the civilized
And because i am a believer
This church is for the atheists

That me being bad, makes me an easy target

He shouts and shouts will he ever stop? Why do you do it? Why do they always do it? Is it because I am different? Is it because I have dark hair? Or is it perhaps because I am silent and shy? I desperately want to know why.

Dragon's Sauna
In a leisure centre based in the badlands of South London, man cub Tio acts like he's straight out of Compton.
He plays water basketball, and he only just made the squad. It was the only positive thing in his life, since his mum said, "Get a job!"
He would play after the sauna, and the heat would get him creamed, and he fancied all the chicas that were playing in his team.

live in denial if you must
but stop belittling what doesn't affect you
hating for its own sake
nobody's saying ya gotta date 'em
look to your personal environ

watching a homeless lady
agonize to cross the street
at a snail’s pace
except for a lone dude
in the park
He shifts his weight from the bench,
stands on both legs
and decides to use humor
to cover whatever triggered
the uncomfortable knot
curling its fist in his chest.
He makes a joke
about homelessness
and laughs.
Riddles the poor
lazy leeches sucking taxes
from the working class

My compassion uncoils itself
as an aching frond— ...

Facing Demons
I have walked through the bowels of hell,
And I have talked with the demons that dwell,
Their tongues hissed with boiling salt
And their mouths spewed fire, that did not halt,
With one gesture, they rained brimstone upon me,
And shrouded me in darkness such that I could not see
My own hand in front of my face,
And yet, they did not put me in my place.
In that brief moment, I saw their true form,
And their flies that yearningly swarm,
Awaiting the rotten flesh with which they were accustomed,
So excited, as if they were...
