outside his window
newspaper clipping
daguerreotype of sweetheart
married to a stranger
the crescent moon
of her once upon a time slipper
transits his tears
timbre
of her mezzo soprano
memory echo
golden opportunity
a locomotive barreling by
his freight train blues
jewelry box
holds the diamond ring

All these years, I let you hurt me,
We both made decisions, but you blame me.
Maybe grow up and take some blame.
It’s a shame, you just wanted to play,
With fire, now you’re burning today.
We could have had so much more,
Forbidden fruits will cost their name.
Call yourself a friend, but you knew the score,
It takes two to dance; you knew what’s in store.
When the world crumbled, you blamed me,
Maybe take some responsibility.

When I inhale
It’s so painful
When I exhale
It’s still stressful
I can’t even sigh
How can something
So hurtful
Keep me alive
It hurts to breathe
And yet I’m still here
Words have a way of
Pushing me down
They have their way
Of not making a sound
My hearts too big
It doesn’t fit
But forgiveness
Expands brittle ribs
His words, they crack my ribs
His works, they crack my ribs

Is it really ever over?
This suspension of love
packing up
moving on
no longer the recipient
of the warmth
or the canvas of desire
once favored,
but now dismissed
and reminded at strange times
of comforts missed
even in slumber
there is no escape
and you remember
vividly
how those passions burned
a dream can place you
right back in that feeling
before it was gone
even though the traces
of its power,
play out in memory

boon to Hecate

The things your uncle did to you, your best friends suicide.
All the horrors you went through, for you I often cried.
When I thought you'd killed yourself, both times left me broken.
The sweet things that you'd say to me, I so needed to hear spoken.
The beauty in your movement, when you'd practice dance.
You are such an A type, to think I stood a chance.
I hope your life is perfect, I hope your dreams come true.

Moon Not As Bright
I looked at the super moon today
It’s not as bright as it used to be
Used to blind my senses, to my dismay
It’s now very faint almost dark to me
It used to brighten up my way
When I was lost in my deep blue sea
Brighter than the Sun during the day
Swimming in the heaven wild and free
Now all it wants is to stay away
hiding in the dark so I can not see
I have asked it to come and play
I even wrote a petition and a plea
I’m wondering why stars on display
Are all shining even brighter than she...
