A Quintuple of Poets: Part IV
Charles Bukowski, 18th Century Polish-
Lithuanian Commonwealth, ragman
eschewed obligation, wealth
lived off persimmons, wild berries—
discerned the nuthatch's ballad;
her blue-coat worn to overthrow
[ their ] government;
but, nested his heart instead;
he couldn't source tone
after that—
indelible as an aria
tuned in nonetheless
vibrating hollow bone
every
60 seconds— ...

Rockhollow Series: Destiny
Title: Destiny
Twenty Six of Thirty
Unique Words: One Hundred and Forty-Six
#NaPoWriMo19
The rain she heaves as if she knows
I need to watch from the window,
my mind gives no hoots
to the body's pain, I've always been that way.
Thinking beyond here lately - of gifting
something all together, full bodied and rich with worthiness
to the ether, my daughter, to you and I.
I want to give Rockhollow to it, let the thanks of it leak
pleasantly through pages
as valium to anxiety. ...

A WRITE ABOUT A WRITER'S BLOCK
Writing about writer's block is better than writing about nothing at all."
-Charles Bukowski-
I cut poems
On my writer's block
And hang them
In my writer's shop
To serve up lines
Of regular patrons
Whilst smears of black ink
Festoon all my aprons.
I'm lonely when
The lines aren't there—
My writer's block
Is laid out bare
And pieces of poems
Rot in my hair...
But this is my gig,
And this is my lair.

There Is A Difference!
I understand some people
suffer misery in their life,
and
we should help where we can.
But,
we need not suffer
miserable people in ours.

and
we should help where we can.
But,
we need not suffer
miserable people in ours.

An interview with Charles Bukowski
I wandered into the bar, wanting only two things. A drink, another drink, and hell, maybe two more things, a conversation with Charles Bukowski and another drink.
Archetype - "are you Charles Bukowski?"
He slowly swerved his head towards me, grinning as he slowly let the bourbon go down.
Bukowski- "Oh, yeah, I've heard of the name, he comes around here from time to time"
Archetype- "I admire your work."
Bukowski- "Work? and what work is that? Work is for people who don't have anything better to do with their time."
Archetype - "Your stories, your poems,...
Archetype - "are you Charles Bukowski?"

Charles Bukowski of DUP (Renegade Poets)
Junkies attract no one
The scent of a dope fiend hangs on their skin and clothing
Like permanent cigarette stink
Clean and clear
the Junkie thinks he has re-entered this world
only to find, clean or not,
he is a ghost in an adjacent
and never intersecting dimension.
Able to see and communicate
but not touch.
Money changes everything though
No reason not to try again...

The thing about Bukowski
Truly my favorite writer.
He was just the first poet,
that ever held any appeal for me.
Previously, I stuck with horror authors.
With poets,I felt that I was getting a real view of them personally.
With the horror guys,
I only ever felt inferior.
They're so damn smart.
Poetry,and prose granted more freedoms.
Just like any art.
No border,no problems.
I love the spontaneity.
Hell with it.
Save the edits for later, just belt it out.
That very moment,on record.
A living journal,
if you so choose to do...

Don't Read Bukowski
Don’t read Bukowski,’ he told me.
‘He’ll get under your skin.
And if you’re not ready to spend most of your time in hell,
Don’t read Bukowski.’
‘I won’t,’ I said.
I didn’t even know who Bukowski was
Until he pulled out a paperback and pushed it my way.
It’d gone eleven and he’d been my best friend
For the last half hour.
He slurred a bit but was still drinking.
He said his name was Mick,
And his mates, he let me know,
Were in the kebab shop next door.
‘If you’re not ready to drink like a pro,’ he hissed, ...

Humanity
Humanity, you never had it to begin with" Charles Bukowski
They started fighting
a noble fight
assembled the citizens
told 'em
this thing
that thing
and the next
Made 'em join
social media groups
Stuck stickers on their cars
Fists in the air
in protest
Solidarity
I suppose
They aimed sights at an enemy
dared the law
Put wagers on police
rode
through streets chanting
"we will"
In solidarity
I suppose
Sold the notion
of a common enemy
of choice ...

BUKOWSKI IN HELL --A One Act Play/ THE CONCLUSION
We last left the two Hell-mates, Bukowski and Douglas, fighting each other fiercely. But the intrusion of the young poet changes things...
YOUNG POET (off stage) Hey Bukowski, I have a hot beer for you!
(BUK breaks away from DOUGLAS, the POET'S offer is like an announcement of salvation)
BUK: What's that again?
YOUNG POET (off stage)
Sounds like another crummy bar fight in San Pedro. You guys fighting over my talent? I said I have a hot beer for you--IF you listen to my new poem.
BUK: O.K. O.K. I'm listening. On with it!

BUKOWSKI IN HELL --A One Act Play
I wrote this one-act in 2002. It's never been produced and I doubt ever will be, because there's a certain moratorium by the Bukowski Estate on Bukowski related works.
This play, employing a non-realistic treatment, attempts to offer a look at some of Charles Bukowski's inner struggles and triumphs.
--candycrier
CHARACTERS:
Charles "Buk" Bukowski--Internationally famous Los Angeles poet and writer (1920-1994)
Douglas Fraser--an anti-Bukowski critic
Woman--One of Bukowski's vengeful, jealous lovers
Young Poet--A hopeless...
