Open My Eyes
- Open My Eyes -
The sun is rising again, in a blaze of rosy hues…
Across a horizon still dark from the fading night.
How shall I now welcome the day that ensues?
It is not a simple thing to just conjure up delight.
Dressed all in white, the spirits came to tell me…
That I had a hope my mortal eyes just don’t see.
My eyes are open wide, but the hope is so faint,
I’ve never been a sinner, but I’m sure not a saint!
Open my eyes, and let me find the way!
Gone is the night, but so long is the day…
Open my eyes, and in hope I will abide!
The sea may be calm, but high is the tide.
My heart is a-racing again, beating like a drum…
And I wonder if I’ll ever know peace once more.
I’ve seen the world, but still I’m feeling so glum…
Because you left me stranded, on a distant shore!
Dressed all in white, I was waiting there for you…
Now I just keep waiting alone for somebody new.
My eyes are open wide, but all hope is fading fast,
When you just keep waiting, the waiting can’t last!
Open my eyes, and let me find my dream!
Gone is the flood, but so deep is the stream…
Open my eyes, and in faith I will be secure!
The road may be long, but I can walk more.
The birds are singing, in the valley with such joy…
That I wonder: if I’ll ever feel that free once again.
I’ve tried to help others, and it was never a ploy…
Everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve been the truest friend.
Dressed all in white, an angel where none tread…
My deeds ever selfless, my heart filled with dread.
Who will understand me, when I must walk along?
And no one is beside me, to hear my lonely song!

Gone is the dawn, so clear is the sky above…

The pain is so hot, but you can ease the sting.

That is a photo of me from during last summer, during one of the times when I had my hair black. I thought this photo went well with this poem.

Once again a beautiful worded write from you Jessica! The search for love and a soul mate and unity within. However the longing is greatly sensed, I sense a lot of hope in this too...

My thanks, dear Mourganna, for the beautiful comment! Indeed, I am in much lonely longing of late, but am very much hopeful as well. I am glad you liked the picture too; I do look very beautiful in it! I love that gauzy white dress very much; it is one of my favorite dresses to wear because it has such a classical, indeed faerie look to it. Thanks again, for the delightful comment! :)

As the lovely Angel said, we have faith in you mother. You WILL find love again soon, I have foreseen it in my visions though I saw not how that love shall come to pass... only that it will.
Your poem is beautiful, tender, and honest. I love that white dress also, and simply ADORE your black hair when you wear it long and full like that! You are beautiful with BOTH black and blonde hair alike, I daresay. You have the sort of face and skin tone that looks good with either and which complements your spirit well. This look, as the wise Mourganna noted, gives you a very Fae and otherworldly quality to you, and it reminds me of why my sisters adore you so much.
