Dreams of The Forgotten Past

In the land of slumber
kissed by a dream
I find myself walking
aimlessly

snow falls
in the style of a ghost
wispy and real
cold and faded

snow flakes are tears
Al-‘Uzzá weeps,
her daughters have been
forgotten

I am remembering them
I am one of them
I see the black Abyssinian woman
she is my protector

she dies for me
over and over again
in every life
in every dream

Venus watches me
from high in the sky
more than a planet
more than a legend

Venus is my guide
three exalted cranes
and the sacred trees
have arrived

they offer me gold
gifts of appeasement
the snow falls away from us
and the garden beneath us grows

Al-‘Uzzá whispers my fate
the three exalted cranes shall carry it out
the sacred trees bow but do not weep
I am hugged by life, awakened from my sleep
