Netherworld Paradise
- Netherworld Paradise -
Across a sea of grassy emerald green meadows,
Dotted with the finest art, dotted all with flowers…
Where the cloudless sky is free of any shadows!
No fear is here, and here not one timidly cowers.
There, I behold the perfect shade of deep azure,
I walk in the company of angels and fair powers.
So many roses of all shades; all vibrant and pure…
That I am adrift, amidst them: for countless hours.
They will not ever die, never fade; they are eternal.
I see trees that shall never be hewn, growing tall!
Butterflies and dragonflies flit in gardens by a well.
My well, my gardens in which I hear sparrows call!
And I weep, for I am happy yet lonely too just then.
The angel closest my side, my spiritual sister of old…
She sees my tears, introduces me to a lovely maiden.
The maiden’s eyes gaze into mine, loving and bold!
We are one, we are complete: all is right and ideal.
Does the universe go on without us; are we within it?
There are places where naught seems quite so real,
Yet real they are, and there souls do as they see fit.
But what is the truth, therein confessed?
Learn it, and be blest.
The maid is like me: male and female in perfect harmony,
My soul’s true mate, androgynous and compassionate…
She accepts me for who and what I am, with true dignity.
And her hand in mine feels so familiar, and so intimate…
Yet I have no need of memories, for here time will cease.
And in the arms of my beloved, I will know only peace!
In the realm beyond, beneath a chasm fathomless,
Within fields of impossible beauty, shades wander.
Heaven to some, Hell to others, beautiful regardless!
I lingered there for a time, and there I did ponder…
Wither is my destination, mayhap the mountains blue?
Above the grave of a Titan Queen I had loved true.
But death cannot take her and so we meet, always,
Beyond the Elysian Fields, when there my soul strays.
Sometimes we clash; sometimes we kiss like lovers…
But always my spirit’s eye, some mystery uncovers.
Even angels and gods may die and so come to dwell,
In that netherworld paradise to which old gods fell!
Beyond the gloom of the dark forest, a golden realm,
Awaits the wanderer, all their senses to overwhelm!
Glories beyond imagination, after passing the terrors,
Of life and death, and overcoming one’s own errors.
My kindred of old, and my slain children of the past,
They all wait there for me, where their joys ever last.
I saw their dwellings, and I wept for I had to leave…
It was not the hour to join them, or to longer grieve.
She who reigns below keeps them best!
I live, whilst they rest.
Across a sea of grassy emerald green meadows,
Dotted with the finest art, dotted all with flowers…
Where the cloudless sky is free of any shadows!
No fear is here, and here not one timidly cowers.
