Wonder
Well there she sat today
A pretty face alone on a deserted street
I wonder if she found warmth
In that ragged cloth and blanket
She looked so compromised
A life never allowed to blossom
Oh forever forsaken by society
And I feel for her
And I know this life is rough
Oh I know this life is rough
But I'll always wonder
Will she ever know
Will she ever comprehend
That there is no meaning here
Scavenging on these streets
And families are safe tonight
Not a second thought is passed
To the few that are forever forsaken
Never safe from the pouring rain
Well I never saw her again
It seems they come and go
A new face takes up residence
Just as frail and benign
New tears come when I see the children
Oh so lost, rib shining like a new tattoo
Forever forsaken by society
I feel their pain everyday
And I know I'm just fortunate
Oh I know I'm just fortunate
But I feel so torn
Will they ever know
Will they ever comprehend
That there is no meaning here
Scavenging these streets
And families are safe tonight
Not a second thought is passed
To the few that are forever forsaken
Never safe from the pouring rain
And this guilt will always hang above me
I fear there is nothing I can do
Because I think I'm the only one who cares
Will I always pass them by
Knowing they will never come home
Oh they are never coming home
Will we ever know
Will we ever comprehend
Knowing we don't spare a second glance
As they find shelter in the streets
And my son is safe tonight
I spare him the burden of looking outside
To the few that are forever forsaken
Never safe from the pouring rain
Knowing he is just like me
Forever haunted by guilt
Forever haunted
A pretty face alone on a deserted street
I wonder if she found warmth
In that ragged cloth and blanket
She looked so compromised
A life never allowed to blossom
Oh forever forsaken by society
And I feel for her
And I know this life is rough
Oh I know this life is rough
But I'll always wonder
Will she ever know
Will she ever comprehend
That there is no meaning here
Scavenging on these streets
And families are safe tonight
Not a second thought is passed
To the few that are forever forsaken
Never safe from the pouring rain
Well I never saw her again
It seems they come and go

Oh so lost, rib shining like a new tattoo
Forever forsaken by society

Will they ever know
Will they ever comprehend
That there is no meaning here
Scavenging these streets
And families are safe tonight

Knowing he is just like me
Forever haunted by guilt
Forever haunted
