A big surprise

Two dogs were forced to leave
Two younger children just could not believe
How their father shipped them away
So quickly earlier today

5 years of good times
They are family pets, no done crimes
Happy and joyful in excellent health
Just dealt away like a old book on the shelf

Look at their eyes
As they look at the door their owners don't hear their cries
Drop them off and never look back
In haste the thinking process they lack

Their hair is kind of long
As they walk around, noticing something wrong
What a beautiful breed
In a new house, their name tags I can clearly read

Why did this occur?
For a pet it's hard to concur
Rather expensive dogs
Not just chopped wood logs

The owners never said goodbye
No pain, sorrow or a tear in their eye
How can something happen like this?
Destroying their world, which maybe in their eyes was bliss
