Mine Eyes
Ever wonder about peoples eyes?
what it is about them that
sometimes takes us by surprise?
Eyes are gazers sometimes amazers
and situation scrutinizers;
they are peekers, seekers
and can at times be beseechers.
They can be your best feature,
their wisdom a good teacher,
inquisitive knowledge seekers.
They can glimpse, wince,
of their sincerity convince
that words were not minced.
Your eyes can have poise,
say many things without noise,
reflect sorrows or evident joy.
They seem to have attitude,
or even express gratitude;
eyes can be shrewd, maybe rude,
at times even make you feel nude.
Eyes can bait and beguile,
betray, hoodwink and defile.
When angry they can glower,
in shyness their gaze will lower,
and at times seem to be all knower.
They can regard you with consternation,
reinforce a strong passionate declaration
or frown disappointed over a situation.
They can hold you in inspection
capture your undivided attention
or show you deep and profound affection;
find themselves in contemplation
get lost in introspection,
thus avoid precipitative speculation.
They invite you to an interlude,
go from booding, to in the mood,
their sultriness can entice and allure
like a sweet coquet, coy and demure.
In passion they can seduce,
a sort of confused delirium induce,
in their depths a spark produce.
With mystery they intrigue and spellbind
unknowingly enthrall even change minds .
They can influence and entrance,
fascinate and precipitate an advance,
Invite and promise the deliciously forbidden,
incite, making you feel madness driven.
They magnetize, tempt and lure,
enchant, ensnare, also bewitch you,
ideas your heated mind conjures.
Eyes can charm, beckon and romance,
captivate, draw you in if given a chance,
they can tantalize, urge or hypnotize;
things you cannot forget, memorize.
They can appraise, assess and apprise,
estimate, evaluate and surmise,
express approval, disapprove and verify
if you are class act or someone to vilify.
In rare cases foresee, scry even divine,
prognosticate, foretell things
or unwittingly prophesy.
They will peer and pierce your façade,
scrutinize ,scan, penetrate
and with one look even castigate
cut like a knife or eternally forsake.
A predators eyes can exploit, mislead,
with misdeeds manipulate,
corrupt you and make you feel raped.
Such is the power that your eyes wield,
they effect, injuries detect, also can heal,
show compassion and all that they feel,
visually many things express and show it is real...

This poem is a classic, in the sense that it is very well written and would appeal to a large heterogeneous audience which could find no material that is offensive in any way. Further it is a poem that teaches something useful, thus, it might be found in books for students of future generations. Finally, from a teachers perspective this would be wonderful to have students write an essay on eyes. So this is a 100 out of 100...and A+, in every way.

Miss Kitty how wonderful for you to say so! I absolutely love your comment; this idea has been rattling in my mind for days but just would not coalesce, I had to blow the dust off some huge synonym and antonym tomes and look up some words that rhyme and remain in context, wheeewww but I think it turned out well. Thank you so much, your the coolest!

An eternal truth you give insightful color to. I love all 5 of my senses and am thankful all work darned well. Sight is the one I appreciate most.

Evidently...lol Like most men sight is their most prized sense, men "eat with eyes first" that is not disparaging remark it is just stating a fact, for women though it is the sense of touch that is most prevalent, we like to be caressed and surrounded by soft things as well as(?) well let just leave that to the imagination shall we ....lolol Thank you for the great comment Mr. Ken, always fun.
