Author's Note
I told my 98% Hispanic class that we will continue to call the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico. "I liked the girl" said Sara, one of my quietest students, in response. "I wish she had won." All I could say was me too. My class knows I don't like Trump and I don't even feel like a bad teacher because of it.

I stopped watching the news.
I catch what I need online with reputable news sources but even then I limit my access for self preservation. I talk to people on both sides of the aisle.
I listen more than I talk.
Mostly I have become more inward and hermit like. It's not good but preferred.

It's an attack on Mexicans. It's dehumanizing. And it's much more serious than people think. It makes me sad that so many of my friends and family agree with this evil.
