A Rice Paper Tigress Named Gloria - Epilogue
A Rice Paper Tigress Named Gloria - Epilogue
Gloria says, “Boy, I am headed to Swarthmore with a banjo on my knee. Do you know what that means Mr. Boswell?”
“Well unless I drop out of substitute teaching and head north to the great state of Pennsylvania we may never cross paths again.”
“That is right. And the tears this brings me are the bluest of the blue. Please tell me the odds are in our favor of meeting in a restaurant here in Baton Rouge during one of my family trips home.”
“The odds are a million to one. But what are the chances of kindred...

A Rice Paper Tigress Named Gloria
A Rice Paper Tigress Named Gloria
This is a high school where I am a substitute teacher for young pianists, flutists, and organists who birth notes with fingers on fire. During their practice sessions, I just melt in my soma zone while they strum my heart with the music of the Gods.
The young ladies chatter like Chickadees with gentlemen in a lyceum where Bach can’t compete with green grass and blue skies. So we follow the sun onto the campus green where lasses are peonies whose windblown fragrance is a kiss for lads while I sit in a Buddha pose with the heart of a...

I Love the Professor's Middle
I love the professor’s middle
More than just a little
She raised it up for me to see
Then give it a little giggle
I love the taste of salty
Right after morning coffee
She offered up her tasty treat
She likes to get all naughty
I licked her for a while
She’s pretty when she smiles
She raised her head to look at me
“Come now let’s get wild”
Heat rose up from her skin
She took me for a spin
Left me spread out on the floor
With my silly college grin
In class she was professor
At home...

Thus, you've graduated, so I'll give you... a BETTER teacher. Editor. AND Preacher.
The Devil Cares, and RE and RE and RE ...dux.
ORIGINAL WORK BY BLUEVELVETE
(Edited by: Master Tasteless Poetaster)
To make it hit HARDER. Break water. GO FASTER.
AND STICK.
THE DEVIL MAY CARE (Redux)

Your mouth,
it's smart and witty.
BITING
into that tender
skin under my ear,
where I spill my secrets,
I was so clear.
THAT'S
where...I lose it.
Where 'good girl'
sheds. ALL... airs,
and I'm left swimming
in "Devil may cares".

A Daily Routine For The Household
The Children wake up in the morning,
Go to the bathroom,
Look at their faces in the mirror,
Brush their teeth,
Take a quick shower,
Put on their clothes,
And hastily make their beds
Mom hushes the crying baby,
Cuddles it and breastfeeds it,
Gives the tiny tot a bath,
Heads for the kitchen,
Prepares a nice breakfast,
Calls the household,
And eats with them at the dining table
Grandma sends off the children to school,
Washes the dishes,
Cleans the stove,
Defrosts the refrigerator,
Dusts the...

[ Classic Corner ] The Third Stanza
Seeking interpretations of the poem
"The Last Bargain" by Rabindranath Tagore,
Mister Sykes navigated the classroom
as if Alladdin floating on his magic carpet.
Susie Speckledbottom zealously raised a hand.
It's about how power always fails to deliver
on it's promise of alleviating your hardships,
symbolized by the King in the first stanza
flaking on hiring a man desperate for work.
Proud of her answer, she beamed, riding
upon a ninth cloud of her own self worth.
The teacher nodded, somewhat impressed ......

My New Home
My new home
away from home
for the next few months
is a dorm
on a campus
in a state
three and a half
-four if you count traffic-
hours away from home
Daily self screening
weekly testing
always wearing a mask
constantly washing hands
using hand sanitizer
and staying six feet apart
This is not
‘The freshman experience’
I thought it would be
I should have known
with the way my senior year ended
New faces
new friends
new professors
new protocols
new world ...
