Razor-Blades
Slippery like a serpent with an agenda for war
Born on third base and believes he hit a triple
Empty vessel on lease to some corporate whore
Emotional ignorance hides an intellectual cripple
Words are razor-blades irritating his fragile soul
Constant reminders that he doesn’t measure up
Heavy handed hypocrite is prone to lose control
Only brand that matters is plastered on his cup

Author's Note
Late night musing. Words are razor blades, on the pen of a poet/poetess. Just thinking out loud as usual. I don't know if the picture applies at all, I'm tired and it looked cool. Appreciate you.

Words truly have a lot of power, you can make or break someone with it. That's why verbal abuse is so devastating (a bit off topic) Amazing piece, my friend, love the Jim Morrison quote.

Superb as ever Damian, as Duende said words have the power to make us feel 10 feet tall or deeply hurt someone ❤️

Unfortunately wordsmiths all too often hire themselves out to the big shots in order make a living as professional bootlickers.
Lawyers, marketing departments, and even a few "poets" I've encountered.
Proving how crucial a full understanding of rhetoric really is.
Splendidly written!

Superb writing. It made me take my time to read it and get all the impressive images in your oil on canvas night through razor work. Hugs my friend.

Words are powerful indeed... unfortunately, some people have found that blunt tools are more effective to get what they want - they can't handle razors, so they ridicule intelligent word use as "elitist".
I think the picture fits. If the principle of Occam's Razor says that the simplest explanation is closest to the truth - then it follows that if it looks like an idiot and talks like an idiot - it's probably an idiot! But what do I know, I'm just an elitist poet. LOL

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, K. I'm glad you connected with the write. They feel the need to put a label on everything. So they can smear a person or a group of people, at their earliest convenience. Gotta have a "word" for who they wanna throw under the bus. Appreciate you.

I'm attracted to razors ...
Great write. Title drew me in.
You're a wise loner poet Damian, like Morrison. His mistake was in the bottle.
The J's all left us too soon at 27.

With the gift comes great responsibility to be aware of what words we say & how we use them. "The pen is mightier than the sword" is no joke. I've been sliced by words too often to not be careful with my own. Moving through empathy is my path anymore. Brilliantly written, Damian

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. I agree, all those old wives tales and sayings are based in common sense and wisdom. I know they had to be creative souls, well I don't know, but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. There is a great responsibility though, it's something I take seriously as well. Glad you liked the write, my friend. Appreciate you.
