The girl you used to be
All my world is black
There's nothing I can do
To bring you back
We used to dream
Of endless time spent
Together forever
When the sun
Still burned bright
In the infinite sky
The hours were ours
To waste at our laughable
Flippant indiscretions
Not knowing
Or caring
What the world had in store
Time was never acknowledged
Cared for
Or savored in our naivete
Then something changed
You weren't the girl
That you used to be
Now forever later
A lifetime lived
In regret and denial
You are gone
And I live with
The eternal haunting
Of your ghost
Forever breaking my spirit
And my heart
There's nothing I can do
To bring you back
We used to dream
Of endless time spent
Together forever
When the sun
Still burned bright
In the infinite sky
The hours were ours
To waste at our laughable
Flippant indiscretions
Not knowing
Or caring
What the world had in store
Time was never acknowledged
Cared for
Or savored in our naivete
Then something changed
You weren't the girl
That you used to be
Now forever later
A lifetime lived
In regret and denial
You are gone
And I live with
The eternal haunting
Of your ghost
Forever breaking my spirit
And my heart
